Yes it does. There are thousands of children in Canada who will never be adopted.

"One of the biggest myths about adoption in Canada is that there are no Canadian children available for adoption. There are more than 78,000 children in the care of child welfare organizations across Canada. More than 30,000 of these children have parents whose parental rights have been terminated by the courts. What this usually means is that these children have no permanent family and will live in foster care or small institutional placements until they are legally of age."

Canada's Waiting Kids -- About CWK

Children, kids. People don't want to adopt children that someone ****ed up. It's hard enough adopting someone else's baby and not knowing what kind of personality, medical issues, and psych issues you're getting. Adopting one that someone ****ed up badly enough with to have taken away... that's terrifying to most people.

Why is it then that I've known married couples who have had to wait years to adopt kids?

Maybe just as well as they probably wouldn't make good parents. Decent people accept children unconditionally be they their own by birth or by adoption. I can understand not wanting to adopt a child that is a "vegetable" and will consume all the adopter's resources, BUT this would represent a tiny fraction of aborted children.

Yup, and who are these people who screw up their kids to the point that nobody wants them? Some are people who should never had kids in the first place, but reproduction in any species is as natural as breathing and eating.

Humans are animals; primates to be exact. Most other animals will abort when food supply will not support any more individuals. Humans, particularly city dwellers, are living in an artificial environment that is artificially supplied with food from other areas. Cities are not self sustaining and it is built into the DNA of the species for some to abort under these circumstances. It is a natural reaction to the artificial environment. It has nothing to do with morals. It is natural law.

Oh yea, I know. I have a living will to stop any idiot from doing just that. When my body says I'm dead that is it, no machines, just dead, cremated and my ashes spread to the wind from the top of Lakeview Mt.

Don't tell people where you are going to have your ashes scattered. People will line up to urinate at that spot. JK

They are dead except for the machine. Besides, many coma patients don't require a ventilator.

Are coma patients who don't need a ventilator, but who are fed intravenously, dead or alive?

ooooooooooooh yeah me too, and I have several power of attorneys in case someone develops a wish to try to over ride said living will...

the two oporative words there ma dear, babies born

Well I take it you do not agree with Pick's definition of humanity. Is that right?

Does the law say anything about convenience? The woman has a right to her own body
source the law People can whine all day about reasons, women don't have to have a
child if they don't want to. Sometimes I hear about personal responsibility. On whose part?
There are two people fooling around, is the woman anymore responsible than the man? NO.
There are cases where a woman does not want a lasting relationship with a particular man
and she gets an abortion because once that child is born all kinds of issues arrive.
The father then has visiting rights, and the law says he has to pay and on and on.
For the woman, she has to have the child and have an ongoing relationship with the guy she
doesn't care about.
Oh yes she can adopt it out but that skrews people up too and should be considered carefully
before embarking on that road.
Passion and reason are not even distant cousins when it come to sex

This isn't about the law or religion. It is simply a question of morality. Morality exists independent of the law and religion.

I was not debating his definition of humanity I was answering your question. I have no idea of his definition of humanity and the confusion you suffered over his answers to your simpler questions would indicate you do not either.

Probably more like a senior threat.

You can give me all the infractions you want bud, if someone on here wants to call me a serial killer they are gonna get an invite to do it in person and deal with it like a man. Why don't you give an infraction to Gerry for calling me a serial child killer? Otherwise you can f*ck off too!

He never said that.

Perhaps when you connected the dots in the windmills of your mind though.

My beliefs are that abortion is murder and anyone that supports that is supporting murder. Anyone that preforms abortion is a murderer. Simple really. You believe otherwise, so in my mind, you are no better than Clifford Olson.

Give it a rest chum...at least you didn't get Bush or Stalin.

I don't pretend to be able to beat you up, Nick, but still I'm a pretty tough old curmudgeon for my youth in advanced years. -:)

Sure...I know old bastards like you...fake me out by dropping your dentures then beat me with your cane when I try to pick them up for you. Probably get you missus to run me over with her wheelchair while I'm down too.

Nah, I have a partial upper, haven't had to resort to a cane yet and missus gets around quite well under her own steam.

You are basing your opinion on the same set of criteria I can justify murdering someone. I pull a victim out of a car accident, he's bleeding profusely and having extreme difficult breathing. I decide he can't live on his own and will be just a parasite, so I finish him off with a gunshot.

that is ridiculous, i'm surprised at you.

a fourteen girl is raped by uncle charlie one night, she becomes pregnant, if that girl was
your daughter, niece, grandaughter, you would insist that she carry the baby to term, right?

another ignorant argument from the ignorant. Introduce something that is few and far between as if it is the norm.

Calling people names for not believing as you do is ignorant and childish. You are your own worst enemy in this argument. You lose all sympathy and support by being such a hard azz.

I wasn't talking about exceptional cases, Talloola.

i'd like an answer from you jlm.

lol. here we go, the point is,that there are so many different stories out there, that
we must not discuss this issue 'black and white', and pretend there are only the stories
you would like to think about.
And, the situation I mentioned is 'NOT' the exceptional at all.
