According to the US constitution every one is entitled to representation in a court of law. Some poor lawyer will likely be appointed to represent them by the judge in the case. Because they probably can't afford a lawyer. That doesn't mean the lawyer has to try very hard.

The better the defence, the less likely the verdict can be appealed.

Actually it's a blessing in disguise, I'd never want to see garbage like this saying they never had a fair trial and without a lawyer that would be hard to accomplish. Just looking at them would make most people puke.

This makes me wonder about our education system, that a mother does not realise that this is wrong.

It's not a matter of "realizing", it's a matter of not caring.

You're right. But there seems to be much more of that lately. Unless it's just more in the media? Granted we've had atrocities in the past too. Probably just more media coverage I suppose.

Either that or people were less likely to get caught i the past?

In theory it should be the parents who would have passed on the sense of right and wrong. Some people are incapable of distinguashing between right and wrong no matter if they are taught or not.

I wonder how many people who have posted on this thread would hold the core belief that people are and should be treated as innocent before proven guilty...?

How many here would have that expectation for themself or their children?

Missouri has one of the highest rates of wrongful convictions... they all start out the same..

Law enforcement, draws conclusions, DA's/prosecutors make statements..... then we all believe everything we here and assume that law enforcement and prosecutors are never wrong, and never mislead (in order to gain public support) where the jury pool is tainted....sadly, an al to common recipe for wrongful convictions... shame on us!

I think society has been spiraling downward since about 1968, the year I recall when people started doing "their own thing" and F**k everybody else, both literally and figuratively! We don't speak up against sh*t these days, we have to learn to be tolerant.

That is a misnomer to begin with! "Innocent" people shouldn't have to fork out thousands of dollars for lawyers and bail. Justice isn't something one should have to pay for!

This forum is not a court of law. There is no such presumption here.

This is one of the few instances where I'd use a hefty industrial sized spud upside the head to fix their loose screws.

there was a statement in detail describing the injuries to the child, not sure who would lie about that.
that would be a coroners report.

there was a statement of what happened to the child that would leave her with such injuries.

there would be forensic evidence which would accurately connect the person who attacked her.

and there is more evidence we have not been told.

this case is horrible, and if they didn't do this to 'her' child, then someone else did, but until
we are told that the whole story was made up, I will believe what I read to this point, and I will
follow along gathering more information as it is put forward.

can you imagine being the one's who were first at this scene, and saw the child first, right after this
murderous attack.

can you imagine the statement from the coroner, and any other medical professionals who examined her
body.

there is much more to this story than just statements from prosecutors and lawyers.

No, we don't 'all' believe everything we are told, we gather information, keep it filed in our memories,
and wait for more, that is all we can do.

This is also one of those stories where people can get frustrated that this animal will be penned, clothed and protected from injury on the taxpayer dime. All the while he can have hots and cots, maybe a tv and perhaps even spank his pathetic little monkey as he recalls his actions.

His 'rights'.

I'd just as soon he choke and die but that's just me.

God bless us, every one.

They'll put him to work at $0.25 an hour. He'll earn his keep making office furniture, auto parts or sewing up military uniforms.

I was always an advocator for a painful death for these f**Kers, but perhaps a long painful life is better (but at minimal cost to the taxpayer), but I think a sledge hammer on the rock pile is a better option, Petros! -:)

Utter lack of empathy.

And as we comment on this story, another emerges of yet one more missing baby. Baby Elaina. 18 months old. HLN is covering the story in their usual inimitable style. :sad7:

I imagine that both of these monsters will end up in protective custody, thereby preventing their well-deserved shivving. There is no way that they would even live beyond the first day of imprisonment if they were placed into gen-pop.

Such a sad story. A girl whose life is snuffed far too early, and far too horribly to imagine.

Rest in peace, little one.:(
