Is this more waste that usually is pumped back into the underground and it won't go down? OR???

Food is #1 Cliffy. Oil is what put an extra 4 Billion people on the planet because it gives the opportunity to grow more food. Without it, billions die.
That is the point. Oil has allowed an artificial boom in population that has never happened before. It is not sustainable and soon we will be looking at 10 billion. The die off will be even greater then. It is inevitable.

Nope. Not Rez land. Thanks for confirming.

The Dene have rights to all land not privately held. And no, Apache doesn't own the land either. It's Dene land, historically, and their hunting and fishing rights to it are protected. Poisoning it violates that right.

Not trying to hen-peck here Les, but that oil will be handled by the local system and consumed by the bacteria that exists naturally in the soil.

Salting the earth is not something bacteria simply consume.

Big deal. Historically?. Is that were they used to be owners? Who owns it now? What Right?

Most of the Zama area is crown land. With treaty rights protecting the importance of the Dene's access to hunt and fish it.

Great, so nail it with sulphur.

That's all fine and dandy if and when it works. The notion that they should just shut up until then is flawed. They have every right to make noise until their 'backyard' is repaired.

Make all the noise you want as long as the noise is truthful and unbiased.

The "keepers of the land" is the biggest line of bullsh*t put forth by some of these people. The people who raped the forests of wildlife for 400 years to earn money kinda cancels any notion of that being a reality.

Say what you will, if any First Nations person were to tell me they were reliant on the land, keeping nature, I'd believe it of a Dene Tha from that area before any native person below the 58th parallel.

Next time there is a forest fire without a natural ignition source, it'll be bullsh*t when somebody below the 58th claims arson? It's common knowledge that is one of the best "make work" schemes going.

Brine is the main component of what Apache spilled.

Much of the water below the aquifers are briny as is... And yes, they do surface from time to time due to natural events and I have yet to see some form of biblical sterilization of the land for generations to come.

The notion that the earth is 'salted' and therefore sterile for whatever amount of time is nothing but sensationalist and one of the mitigating factors has to do with the bacterial action detailed in those links and tens of thousands of others.

Gaia will heal here, no different than when someone does their own oil change and pours the waste oil on the grass or uses a septic field in a community.
