 I had a hunch you might feel that way. I have a sneaking suspicion that benching Brad Richards might have been a deciding factor in his quick departure from NY following the team's loss.
.
[/FONT]

Torterella has accumulated lots of 'no nos', and has alienated part of his team from him, early in the
year.
When you call your players names to the media, and continually tell people on 'other' teams to shut-up

thru the media, you are putting yourself on a downhill slide, and the end is inevidable.

Sure Brad Richard's game has definitely gone downhill, but 'why', I would ask, and why isn't nash playing

up to his potential either, and why did gaborik play himself off the team.

Those are the most talented players he had/has.

Whomever hires him in the future, better think long and hard.

And couldn't he think of better things for his team to do than 'block shots',
and even lundquist is noticeably finished with him, and if torterella had
stayed, lunquist would leave, he only had one more year on his contract, and
stated that he and his agent would have to discuss 'what' they were going to
do.
To let lunquist walk and keep torterella would have been a poor decision by
management.

All through the play-offs as one Canadian team after another met their demise, some fans began saying they were no longer interested in watching the games. Kind of had me scratching my head because, to me, there was still a lot of Canadian content available to watch. Maybe it's just a team thing but at least one sportswriter agrees with me.

They're all 'Canadian' teams

It's repeated every year, and bears repeating again: Canadians outnumber every nationality on each of the four remaining teams in the Stanley Cup playoffs.

Through the first two rounds of the playoffs, six of the top 10 point-scorers are Canadian, and 13 of the top 20. Canadians also occupy the first five slots in goal-scoring.

Los Angeles has dressed the most, with 16, followed close behind by Boston with 15. Pittsburgh is third, with 14, while Chicago has dressed nine.

Oh, one more thing.

That Sidney Whatshisface guy is doing pretty good too.

8 reasons why Canadians should keep watching the NHL playoffs

Exactly. its been this way for years and its always struck me as odd that most of the Canadian teams had less Canadian content than their American counterparts. I know its the old "get the best player you can" in the draft, in free agency and trades, but it seemed ironic to me, the way it always worked out.

yes, definitely they are mostly canadian players, I never forget fact, and even as the american numbers
increase and eventually they probably will have as many as canadians, just because of their population.
But, the teams will continue to be mixed, and the players are just players, location means nothing if
one loves the NHL hockey experience, which I do.

I do distinguish between west and east though when supporting teams, as I like to support my conference
all the time, whether they are american based or canadian, doesn't matter, but atthe same time I enjoy
and appreciate all of the players, east and west.

California has built a large minor hockey system, (since gretzky was there), and each year they have
more players in the draft than before, and that is good.

I remember when the west coast, didn't get much notice from the prairies and eastern canada/u.s. at all,
when it came to drafting players,
but that has definitely changed, big time, right down the coast, over the past years.

Canucks will eventually have a west coast based AHL affiliate, but at the moment, they are having trouble
finding one that will work, won't be long thought.

I've been reading rumors in the Hockey News and Bleacher Report of talks between the Isles and Lu, talloola. Think it would be a good move for him and the Canucks?

Finally, the big day is here...........the start of the conference finals..........seems like an age since the Hawks vs LA game.

US based NHL teams with the money to buy the best far outnumber the Canadian teams, wulfie which is one of the reasons for so many of our best migrating to the States. It would be great to see more of our players stay here, at the same time I am really proud when I watch a Canadian kid making good on one of those big American teams.

Brian Bicknell was the Electric Player of the Game as the Hawks overcame an early 1 - 0 deficit to come back and take the first game of the WCF 2 to 1. Justin Williams got the Kings on the scoreboard with goal early in the 1rst in spite of the Hawks having a 17 to 2 SOGs advantage.

The Hawks responded midway through the 2nd when Patrick Sharp beat Quick cleanly to tie the game. Less than 4 minutes later Marion Hossa got the second point for the Hawks and the 2 to 1 lead. The 3rd ended with LA in the PB and the Hawks playing out the remaining minute with a PP.

Great win by the Hawks.

The Boston Bruins brought everything they had to Game 1 of the ECF while the Pens left most of what they had in the locker room apparently.

Matt Cooke lapsed into his nasty ways with a hit on McQuaid drawing a 5 minute penalty and game suspension. McQuaid would be back in the game none the worse for the hit as hockey commentators argued about his culpability by not protecting himself when he knew Matt was coming. None-the-less, it was a dirty hit and Matt should sit on the bench for awhile.

It wasn't that Pittsburgh didn't have their chances, but everything they brought to the net was turned aside by Tukka Rask.

Frankly, the Pens sucked big time. Between Geno fighting with Bergeron and Sid taking shots at Rusk and Zedeno, they looked pathetic. Their PP lacked the power though the Pks were slightly better. Ineffective effort all the way.

Boston effectively shut them out with a well-earned 3 to zip win. Play-off points leader, David Krejci got two more and Nathan Horton put the final nail in the coffin for Pens.

IMO, the Pens played right into the hands of the Bruins instead of playing 'their' game they gave into their frustration - not the way to win games against the Bruins. Hoping for a better effort in Game 2.

teams just draft players they think will best help their own teams, and after they get past the top 10
or so, it is always a gamble, but doesn't really matter where the come from.
Some teams don't draft europeans as much as other teams.

Pittsburg again suffer because they are lacking on the defensive side of their game, and that doesn't mean
just defencemen, it means forwards who don't support their defensemen enough, and leave the team vulnerable
for scoring chances, if they want to win they have to fix that problem, it might be a bit late in the year
to fix it properly now, we'll see.

Chicago played 'their' game, and los angelos still need their good offensive players toshow up, eg. richards,
carter, kopitar, absent from goal scoring and scoring chances.
quick can't do everything for that team, they have to help him by scoring some goals.

looking forward to the game tonight.

I'm looking forward to it too, talloola though I earnestly hope they pick it up a bit. The one thing I will say about Bruins vs Pens game was from the very start it was fast-paced with lots of energy on both sides of the ice.......kind of made the Hawks vs LA game look a bit slow. JMO.

P.S. Hope the move went well.

I think I mentioned beforethat when l.a. play chicago it will bd 'two' totally different style of teams,
and chicago played their game, good flow, good defense, but l.a.didn't match them, so game is lopsided,
with an offensiveteam skatingwell, getting scoring chance, and the other team 'chasing' the puck most
of the game trying to 'get it', and not doing very well, makes for a wierdly paced game.

Then I will have to hope that LA has a bit more 'jump' in their game tonight. You are right, I had forgotten you mentioning the different styles...........personally I do like the action a bit more than the finesse though both have their places.

It took just over 70 minutes of game time for Chicago to get the best of Jonathan Quick. They hassled him in the first game but they put him away in this one with 4 goals over 2 periods of play. Quick now sits on the bench while his replacement Jonathan Bernier takes over the crease. The loss of their star goalie has to have an effect on an all ready struggling LA team. Chicago basically owned both periods. Will be interesting to see what they can do in the 3rd.

LA got a very late 2nd period goal.......a really smoothy from Jeff Carter via Trifoli and Voynov to cut the Hawks lead to 3.

3rd Period straight ahead.

the game was far too bland, and again l.a.were chasing the puck while hawks were controlling the game.

not much hitting at all, no reason for chicago to hit, they had the game in their hands, and l.a. were
scrambling to catch up, so they weren't feisty or aggressive at all, seems they should have got something
going, just to change the game, as there was nothing going for them at all.

it wasn't till near the end of the game that l.a. began to get some life, so, now it will be interesting
to see how they do back home, where they had so much success this season.

4 - 1 final, Hawks over the Kings.

This game belonged to the Hawks from start to finish with a few nervous bumps in between - it was Chicago all the way. Time and again, Chicago broke down the LA D to find open ice. Their speed, puck handling and agility combined with tight plays washed over the Kings and left them floundering in their wake - it was sad to see on the one hand but inspiring on the other.

The loss of Quick in the game set LA back a bit but they had some good flurries in the 3rd and got another late period goal but given a PP to finish the period were unable to get by the much vaunted Hawk PK who are now 28 for 28 at home.

LA will host Game 3 and will no doubt be hoping that home-ice advantage will provide the magic spark. Down 2 they have been before but argue all you want, they now know that Quick is vulnerable. I think it was back in 2010 when last Jonathan was pulled from a game. Add to that their lack of productivity in the first two games and the future does not look so rosy any more for the Kings. That said, I would not be surprised to see Quick back in goal for the Kings in Game 3. He is their best brightest hope. All goalies have bumps and playing at home will give him an edge.

The best line for the Kings tonight was Carter, Toffoli, and Penner and two of them got the LA goals. :canada:

Back to Pittsburgh tomorrow for what I truly hope will be a professional, skilled, dedicated, clean-playing Penguins team. I expect to see their Captain act like one and if Cooke is back in the line-up - one strike and he will be out in my books. No stupid fighting. Just play hockey...........and they might surprise themselves with a win. For sure they can't go into Boston down 2.

Well let's just hope Pittsburgh does exactly that... go to Boston down two!

I never count my chickens before they hatch. I learned that many years ago. Don't talk smack until it is all over or it can get handed to you when things don't work out. I was surprised the B's were able to do so well in that environment. Pitt was hitting hard and that place was loud. But hey... they're hockey players and I think they are the toughest athletes around.

Much as it pains me to say this, Eagle...................Boston rocked tonight. They owned the ice.

its just the old problem that pittsburgh has, 'rearing' its ugly head, they don't know how to play
good defense, they depend on their strong offense to carry them thru, and that is OK when they
are playing league games and their division is also not great defensively, and also the rest
of the eastern conference isn't really tight defensively, with the exception of a few teams.

boston has always played a good two way game, they play a total team game, and defense is important,
and then when it comes to the 'last' position of defense, 'the goalie', pittsburgh's goalies are just not good enough.
Their goalies need lots of support around them, and they don't get it from the players.

Maybe they will figure it out, but obviously bylsma has also depended on the offense to win, and
now he also must see where he went wrong, again, one would think he would have learned from the
philly series last year.

If they don't turn this around, and win, he will probably be fired.
