First of all what genuine Canadian would want to become part of the United States.
Good God, I cannot think of anything worse.politically. As for having Quebec leave,
that would not be good either the nation would be geographically divided and that
is never a plus besides our financial stability would be threatened.
Puerto Rican could well become a full State in time for the next election and the
Democrats would benefit. If the Republicans protest it they will be seen as anti
Hispanic and who do you think would benefit from that? Besides the balance is
altered already it will be class warfare in the next election. The poor the Immigrants
the working poor and working people and minorities against the perception the
Republicans are for the conservative rich. Ms Clinton the first woman President.
Let see they said a Catholic would never make it (Kennedy) Then there would
never be a Black President (Obama) then it was no woman would be President,
(Ms Clinton) is on deck, and lastly it was said a Jew would never be President, I
am sure the Democrats are looking ahead for post Clinton. For the Republicans,
if the left can hold its coalition of the huddled masses, it could be like climbing
Mount Everest of Stilts.

Well, the US could drop Israel from its welfare rolls and that would save a boat load of money every year.

The equation of population has changed and the white population becoming a minority
is not the problem. The problem is the old white guys ran the system for decades at the
exclusion of everyone else. They polarized the voters to get the conservative, and the
religious communities. Everything Liberal was evil or of no value as it were.
The problem is those marginalized people said to hell with it and they went out to vote
and have done so in the last two elections. Compound that with the folks who were
seen as anti Latino. The label was not altogether fair either as many illegals were in fact
Latinos but is galvanized the minority voters and spilled over to a them against us
society. It is not good for anyone. More important, is destructive behaviour that will
destabilize the nation itself. America has a long road back. First they have to understand
everyone is going to suffer and make compromises and for the time being it is not likely.

From the Wikipaedia entry, the White House announced in April 10, 2013, that it will be asking for $2.5 million to finance another referendum. If, as I suspect, this happens and the PR's vote for statehood, Congress will introduce the appropriate legislation.

And from I've read the vote count will be even higher since the statehood movement has been increasing in popularity.

California, Arizona, Nevada, New Mexico and parts of Colorado should be restored to Mexican sovereignty. Hawaii should return to its independent status pre-1895. Alaska should become an independent nation. Texas, Oklahoma and Louisiana can form an independent federation along with the Southern states, central and upper Midwest, and upper Rocky Mountain states. The Great Lakes states, except Indiana, can form their own federation along with New England, the Mid Atlantic states, and Pacific Northwest. Puerto Rico should go its own way.

I bet the Americans murdered more Indians than the Europeans did. The US expanded westwards upon independence and stole Indian lands, many of which had been given to the Indians by the British, who protected many of them.

And the British didn't protect JACK! The US rolled all over the Native Americans and the Brits packed their trash and ran.
Republicans and their wannabes don't want PR to be the next state as they know it will vote Democrat. They know that it was the Hispanic vote that made New Mexico and Florida into Blue states and that this is what will happen everywhere Hispanics go.
