Nooo we are not up to to $93K. READ!!!! is that the same house that was posted earlier or a 1760sq ft job my wants for the beach that RETAILS for $93K and wholesales for $42K

How much is Home stroking as middle man?

Nope. I've read what the docs have had to say. Unlike you, I've been following what has been happening. Unlike you, I have the ability to think.

I watched the news last night and she did not look like she was starving which means it is all a publicity stunt

You were the one that introduced the Canadian made home with all plumbing, heating, and electrical done. Not me. The fact still is that the chinese made home is a bare bones shell. To quote that price is deceiving.

So, you expect the unemployed to work for nothing? at sub par wages?

Idle No More’s vague demands butting up against PM’s pragmatism

Manny Jules has spent a whole lifetime listening to complaints. He was a chief, his father was a chief and his grandfather was a First Nations band councillor for three decades.

He remembers his father saying back in 1968 that First Nations communities “have to be able to move at the speed of business,” including and especially when it comes to leasing reserve lands ripe for economic growth. Complaints about the onerous and convoluted leasing process — which, thanks to the Indian Act, can take years and cost thousands in lawyering — persisted throughout his own tenure as a chief and, nearly 40 years on, right up until today.

As recently as mid-December, Mr. Jules and several chiefs voiced their own disdain for the way the Indian Act governs land leasing, asking Parliament to get rid of certain provisions that add months, if not years, of delay.

The Harper government heeded those calls and streamlined the process, but instead of garnering praise or even getting by with apathy, Ottawa was met with uproar and threats.

More specifically, Prime Minister Stephen Harper was met with Idle No More, an Occupy-type movement that claims he only amended the Indian Act because of a malevolent agenda to sell off reserve lands, and a hunger strike launched by Theresa Spence, the Chief of the Attawapiskat band that became infamous last year over a housing crisis despite millions of dollars flowing into the community.

The movement has been criticized for lacking a concrete agenda and for failing to put forth tangible solutions, but NDP MP Charlie Angus, whose riding includes Attawapiskat, defends the grassroots protest saying “it’s there and it’s tangible.”

Actually it is $275,000

Good point. Funny that they want to keep their traditions, but you don't see them fishing in a birch bark canoe or a dugout. No, they have the best in bass boats... They don't get around in winter using snowshoes. No, they have the best snowmobiles. Do they travel on horseback? No they have the best of pickups.

They never had horses until the Spaniards arrived either. Around here they do traditional fisheries with seine boats or monofilament nets strung right across the river.

unaudited.

Really?

I have no choice BUT call B U L L S H I T

$250K to build a house?

On which planet? The ice giants out past Saturn?

At best it's $30K in material to build an 800sq ft 2 bdrm house and another in $30K in labour and that is way way way over estimating on the labour.

That's nearly 100 NEW homes from $5.8Million

250 would be a fair number for a 3 bdrm house when you count in freight and contractor's profit. It is not like the band is going to build them themselves. At least none of the remote res around here do.

I don't like you just because you're Bloc Obsequious. You don't even have to speak, your affiliation says EVERYTHING.

Québécois....

Freakin auto-correct...

Oh look not only stupid as a rotten stump but a bigot as well.

When I was young boy in small anglo ecole, another boy push me down and take my brie and croissant to put in waste receptacle... I runs home crying to my grand pere and asks him why this anglo boy is so means to me.

Grand pere LeBlanc says that many anglos are still upset from history of French military skills... Stories of back in warring military days how French army defeats the Nazis and saves the anglo Island (Britain) from being occupied still hurts anglos and that is why they push me down and takes my petite dejunier.

You poor boy. You MUST be compensated by the anglo government for such treatment. I demand that you receive $10000000 in compensation immediately for pain and suffer ing plus ANOTHER $10000000 for loss of potential income.
PS feel free to share your new found wealth with your friends here on CC.

really.... and yet at the beginning is an independant auditors report from Ross, Pope and company LLP from Timmins Ontario.

I think we are talking about different types of audits. What we expect is more like a forensic audit. You have been in business long enough to know the difference.

For Social housing with no lot costs or permit fees? Can I live in your paradise fantasy world too or is it just for you?

Right. $90K Through a RETAILER.

I expect them to be paid the rate of any GL who lacks skills

Even if you used the complete retail luxury 1760sq ft home at $90K added a foundation, shipped to Attawapiskat tied to the street it's still under $110K and that is for something that IS NOT SOCIAL HOUSING.

Where does the other $140K go gerryh?

Penny whistles and moonpies?

At $20K a pop, add wiring, plumbing, heat, street ties in, shipping and pad there is no way in hell the 725 sq ft 2 bdrm house posted below is going to top $60K. Are they not good enough for Attawapiskat or ANY Rez for that matter?

Admit it. They are a smoking deal.

As a general statement I would say where housing is being supplied at taxpayer expense for ANY demographic who has physically healthy members who are unemployed, costs should be defrayed by said members participating in the labour involved.

I say you can't have a move in ready for anywhere near 60k. If you think you can do it, then why don't you quote 70k and make 10k a house. I'm sure they will jump all over a 70k finished house.

It costs $150 /sq.ft. to build a decent house. Not fancy just quality. Now add in freight, labour, accommodation for crews, flights, etc and $250G a pop is not out of line.
Last time I took a truck and trailer of building material to Bella Bella it was $1385 EACH way from PT. Hardy on the ferry.

Note the wall thickness. That would be one cold shack.

Why can't you? The shell with shingled roof and doors is under $20K and 3 of those are on one shipping bill as there are three to a sea can.

$40K to ship, pour a pad, wiring, electric heat and pipe to street? No ****ing way Jose.

There'd be money left over for fridge, stove and furniture.

There are no land costs, permits and labour is abundant to assemble kit homes that piece together like Lego.

Who is building your house at $150 sq ft?. A Union and Govt employees who don't pay taxes?

These houses aren't "built" they are assembled.

You don't need crews to do it. **** no. All you need is a zoom boom and a couple guys with strong backs who can follow an assemble by number system like it were Lego.

If these people need skills, they'll get skills assembling their own home.

Where'd the goddamned money go?

Chief Spence does't want that question asked

... And not only dat... In da later years, de anglos came to my beeloved Forum and takes away ma Coupe Stanley.

Damn anglos and dere 'ockey teems from da Oilers... Eees criminals I says

Bingo.. That was what it took to identify the US Army claiming $10,000 for a hammer and $40,000 for a toilet; or in Spence's case, why her boyfriend can charge $850 per diem to 'co-manage' the Band (whatever that means)

really.... and yet at the beginning is an independant auditors report from Ross, Pope and company LLP from Timmins Ontario.

Then why is this an issue for Spence? If all is on the up and up, this would have been a perfect opportunity to bring the issue of under-funding to the media's attention.

Spence is dodging this because she doesn't want any real analysis done of the books.

this thread isn't about any of that. It's about getting a meeting with the PM and GG for First Nations leaders. Something, it appears, her strike has achieved.

Yep he folded. Too bad, now every ******* who fudges their books can use this as a new way to get a seat with the PM. Kind of how we blew it with Oka and as a result now we have Caledonia.

Brilliant move on Mr. Harpers part.

By the way, what is this thread about? Pre-fab homes or the theatrics of an individual.

Because it sure in the hell aint about Native Issues.

Just as well as the temporary mining camp lodgings they recently bought for $250K a pop but only 100 of them instead of 15

You sound like a Union man pissed at imports taking your work.

When Spence coughs up the GL, AP and ARs she might be worthy of a sit down with the PM.

The "theatrics" of that individual got a meeting between Native leaders and the PM. Something he said wouldn't happen and the right wingers didn't want to happen. Now we will see if anything comes from that meeting.
