Why Don't Canadians Embrace Winter?

In a nutshell: It makes my peepee very small when I walk around outside naked.

And yet, Canadians excel at winter sports: ice hockey, biathlon, Xcountry skiing, bobsled, you-name-it. This tells me you folks embrace the cold weather.

That is only because we are trying to stay warm by moving very fast.

Winter sucks. And it is cold. Did I mention that it sucks. Only 3 degrees here. The "threat" of global warming is more like a dangling carrot.

I'm with petros...

Just waiting for the ice.

I am Bear, built for winter and loving it.

I've been known to sit on the ice in temps hovering around -30, before the 40km/h wind chill factored in, without a care in the world.

Around here even the bears hide out until the weather improves.

I didnt mind it when I lived up north. Ive hated every winter in Ottawa though. There is way too much moisture in the air. Goes straight through everything and hits you in the bone. The thermometer says that Timmins is colder but when I go there I feel a lot warmer than here.

Best things about winter: no biting bugs, hockey on tv (but not so far this year, alas), no noisy overpowered cars roaring around the neighbourhood, hockey on tv, no JWs peddling their mythology door to door, hockey on tv, sharing a bottle of Chateau Sinister 2011 with Mrs. Sinister in front of a cozy fire, hockey on tv, kids home for Christmas, hockey on tv, and hockey on tv.
Yes! (Except for the hockey crap. And have to add snowshoeing, camping and a few other activities to the best parts of winter. Specially the cuddling with wifey, in hottub or in-house, and a couple mugs of some hot alcoholic beverage after a trek in the brisk air on snow).

you definitely have jogged my memory,as there was many many snowy winters years ago, when we lived
in surrey,and also new westminster,b.c.

the quiet of the outdoors, hockey on tv, the coziness of indoors, hockey on tv, and yes, the wine too,
hockey outside with the kids, thawing out the fingers and toes, hot chocolate and hockey on tv with all of the family gathered round the
living room, much hockey chit chat, with everyone talking about their favourite players etc., just the
feeling of closeness of the family, we, whom all love our hockey, and have since we were little kids,
see winter as 'hockey time in canada'.

hockey and winter are best buddies.
