The only point colpy has, is the one on top of his head. Check the "numbers" for Canada. I believe eh1 has already fed them to Colpy. War mongering state fits the americans very well.

Gerryh, in all fairness you are hardly what I\d call an God Bless America type..

Yes of course, but their culture is to shoot their way out of a problem. An insane person goes ballistic so they want to arm more people to solve the problem.
They are not fostering a safe society with choices like that.

This suggests there are safer places just beyond a magic unseen line on a map. For some strange reason. Maybe it's the lack of war mongering here? I guess that couldn't be it, right? Must be that more guns make you safer.

Might I introduce you to the Gun Control is Completely Useless thread and ask you to read the opening post.......

In the western hemisphere, as you go south, the murder rate rises, until you hit the median, then it begins to fall again......

Perhaps it is closeness to the equator that causes murder, huh??

There is more evidence to support that tinfoil-hat theory than there is to support an "availability of guns causes murder" theory.

And the Australian solution is IMPOSSIBLE in either the USA or Canada.

You have to deal with reality.

Try to explain that one, lol.

You really are not paying attention, are you??

The gov't could not get Canadians to cooperate with a registration system for long guns, despite the legislation allowing for criminal penalty of years in prison.

How much LESS do you think they would be willing to put up with surrendering them???

Then let us take a look at the USA, with at least 270 million guns, a constitutional right to keep and bear arms, and a population with a traditional distrust of Gov't.

A move to confiscate arms would lead to a civil war, nothing less.

That is the reality.

No that is not the reality (well maybe in your wishful mind.) You need to get you head out of the sand and face reality. I actually think you don't really believe that, just trying to work your way out of this one. School kids, firemen I guess it doesn't matter who, you will defend them.

yes colpy, that is reality, any attempt to legislate gun control like austrailia should have been done
a century ago in the u.s. and canada, even though canada has many less guns, the increase in evident,
and with the increase in gangs, I see no stopping it, the kind of law that would try to stop it in the
u.s. would lead to civil war, you are right, people just don't seem to realize the magnitutde of it,
and the impossibility to stop it.

Nice sidestep!!!

Perhaps you would like to deal with the issue.

Americans have a clear constitutional right to keep and bear arms. To seize arms in the United States would require the suspension of the Constitution. That would lead, quite rightly, to widespread armed rebellion.

Even in Canada, gun owners refused to cooperate with a registration system. To anyone with a functioning intellect, that would indicate a determination to hang on to their firearms, one not displaced by gov't decree.

These things make the Australian solution impossible in either jurisdiction.

Now, what part of this is beyond your limited ability to understand??

Northern Ontario,
You hear a lot of people in this thread ranting about all the people shot with the "assault weapon", a common rifle that looks like a military weapon.
Since the shooter also had two glock pistols when he went on a rampage, does anyone know how many, if any, were killed with the rifle, and how many with the pistols,????

According to the coroner, all were killed with the AR 15 type rifle.

I 'think' all where shot with the rifle, & none with the handguns. I could very
well be wrong, but that'smy impression based upon the language being used
in the ongoing noise surrounding this issue as of late.

As I've attempted to look back at the 10 years "previous" to the 1996 gun snatch in
Australia, I can't find any reference to any school shootings at all. I did find reference
to two different incidences "after" the 1996 firearms confiscation though.....in 1999
& 2002. Technically, the above statement in the picture is accurate, as long as it was
made after October 21st, 2012....as that would put it outside the ten year window as
stated in that picture above.
