Westboro Baptist Church, the vicious anti-gay group that pickets the funerals of soldiers and AIDS victims, recently declared it will protest at the burials of the children slain in Newtown, Conn. In response, the hacker group Anonymous posted personal information of church members online, including phone numbers, home and email addresses. The law gives us all the right to some privacy, but when the Westboro Church's stance on the shooting is to "sing praise to God for the glory of his work in executing his judgment," do they deserve what they get?

WBC is hitting my last nerve. Protesting at the funerals of six and seven year old children that were murdered. They are really beyond contemptible and deserve everything they have coming to them. Good for anonymous.

Actually I'm surprised it hasn't happened yet. They are deliberately provocative towards individuals at extremely trying and emotional times in their lives. I'm surprised no one has snapped.

The kind of wrath they inspire, I'm still surprised no one has tried. They've personally never done anything to me personally and I pretty much hate them. I can't even begin to imagine how those who've had to deal with them feel.

Should anyone ever do it though, we have to make sure we picket at their funeral.

Kind of pathetic that this bunch of fanatics and nutbars get so much attention. Far as I can tell, not one of them is worth it. But, go for it Anonymous!

Shot? Be more fun to stick them in public squares in stocks and have good people throw rotten foodstuffs at them.

Honestly, I don't think the cops are protecting them so much as the grief stricken loved ones of those funerals they "protest" at. I don't think anyone would shed many tears for the whack jobs at WBC but if someone reacted violently to them, the reaction could net someone serious jail time.

As for anonymous, I am not a big fan of anarchists of an stripe but in this case I feel no compunction against rooting them on.

To be honest, I would think that if one of these scumwads was punched in the head by a grieving family member the police wouldn't be super quick to arrest them. They might intervene(so the rest of these idiots aren't mobbed), but if you protest at the funerals of young children that were murdered by a gutless coward, you pretty much deserve anything that comes your way. Karma, it can even happen to those most deserving of it.

And it would just be as easy for the puncher to claim that they suffered "temporary insanity". Considering what occurred to their loved ones, it wouldn't be much of a stretch.

I'm all for stocks and public humiliation. The rotten eggs, insults and such are fine and dandy but the real humiliation of the stocks was sh!tting and pissing your britches.

I think, given who and when they choose to 'protest', any revenge type of 'attack' would likely be perpetrated by someone who just didn't give a damn about the consequences. Because that's the kind of attitude that grief and despair can drive a person to.

Not that I'm condoning an attack on anyone, even them. But to be honest I wouldn't want to see someone who's already been victimized by them further victimize themselves by getting arrested for causing them harm.

I wouldn't mind seeing though, now that anonymous has published names and addresses, some anti-Westboro protests to pop up at the church, homes and workplaces of these idiots.
