Do You Agree With The Statement "300 Channels And Nothing To Watch"?

Sadly, I do. I have Direct TV. With over 300 channels, there's STILL nothing on! Plus US NetFlix and Vudu (per-per-view) Yawn.

I am watching some 80's martial arts cop story.. eeeish

I agree with you on this one. The main companies set up different networks in order to hold onto
advertisers and compete for the buck. The problem is there is not enough material to cover the
programming. It ends up with not so real reality shows and re runs or shows from before we were
born. History is not about history anymore, A&E is not about what it started to be, and then there
is the news. We have all kinds of radio and television news outlets and all they do it parrot each
other and rewrite other peoples news stories.
WE need ten or fifteen channels of well done programming and then add sports and weather
after that.

I used to enjoy HGTV, but that was when it was about building tips and projects, but it has now become some lame channel flogging real estate. Who in hell care what properties people are flogging in some foreign country. It's supposed to be about home and garden not real estate agents and buyers.

LOL The Replacement Killers.. yeah really sucks. PBS has got some really awesome programs.

Say you guys get Vudu here in Canada. You can buy a digital video and watch it on your iPhone, iPad, Laptop and TV from any location. $21 for the ownership. I just purchased the new Total Recall, now stored in my digital library.

Well go to the Strip Club and spend $100 CDN or pay $5.99 USD for the The Bourne Legacy... and stay home.. let's see.. @home

I watch online TV and get about 3000 channels. So much better variety and its all for FREE.

With who?? What provider? What program?

No. I'd say, "300 Channels and only 6 to watch." Unfortunately, most of the stuff on the 6 channels is crap too, but there ARE 6 channels that sometimes have something worth watching on. Even the once reliable History Channel, Learning Channel, and A&E, have mostly surrendered to woo woo and BS.

VIP Box, First Row, or just go here:

Well after living in the USA for so long when I returned to Canada it was serious culture shock. I was entertainment deprived. :-(

My work around is using StrongVPN and I purchased a Belkin dd-wrt Flash Router. So basically, everything in my home from computer to BlueRay, DirecTV, Pandora is all US based.

My desktop I can switch back and forth depending on what I want to access..

Found many sites like Hulu.com, was not available to Canadians.. and lol NetFlix Canada has 1/2 the movies the US version offers, when I called to ask why.. they replied. CRTC.

I feel ya Boomer. We can't get some of Sky's channels or other real good stuff from the UK. Same with some of the channels that present live international cricket. Well, we still have plenty to choose from and it'll have to do if we want them for FREE.

Ron, I would be lost for a decent program to watch without PBS and Knowledge. Though, even they have their re-runs and their fund-raising specials but for pure TV with no adverts............they are the way to go. I do a lot of house-sitting for friends that have movie channels and I swear out of all that is offered, I am lucky to find a movie a week that can hold my interest.

As for Boomers question, I agree totally. How many times do they have to broadcast Coronation Street and on how many channels? Nothing against CS, but it is not my cup of tea and neither are any reality programs, that as DG mentioned are not reality at all.

I'm sure getting sick of the End-Of-The-World (formerly the History) Channel

My ex and I were just chatting about this earlier this evening.........wondering what will happen to all those idiotic 'dooms-day prepper' programs after the 21rst..........gee, maybe they will have to go back to something that is really about history........along the lines of 'Mankind - The Story of Us All.'

The son of a friend of mine has been going on and on about Doomsday.........though he is not a prepper.........thank Gaia for that..........I asked my friend the other day how young Roy is doing. Apparently, he decided to hedge his bets and bought all his Christmas presents.

I have the oasis and equator channels, which are, for the most time very interesting and take me
to parts of the world I will never see, and I now know more about different countries and cities
than ever before. Well worth it. And many many animal shows from around the world, documentaries.

I also see that 80% of the channels are crap, but the 20% that I do watch are great,

and I am happy to pay for them.

The others I watch are detective type shows, which I also like, there are lots of them,
criminal minds, persons of interest and many others, some are reruns, but I enjoy those
too.

I like the food network, PBS, history channel and similar type channels.

I like the dog whisperer, but i've seen most of them now.

And, of course the NHL when it is up and running is very enjoyable for me, but I do watch hockey central
every morning and again at night, keeps me up to date on hockey news.

But the rest as I scan thru the channels from time to time, are junk.
But someone is watching that junk, so it seems there is something for everybody.

I can see kids and teenagers glued to many TVs watching that junk, just howling at
the stupid things that are said and poor humour, a pure empty waste of anyone time.

Tonight all the channels are dominated by the 12.12.12 donate to survivors of Sandy.

I have a better solution, don't build your house in stilts 5 feet from the Ocean on a coastline frequented by Hurricanes.

I donate to "Plant a Billion Tree Program" I will probably donate a little to Sandy Survivors.

Actually a pretty good program is on this evening.. Holiday Inn with Bing Crosby & Fred Astaire

I watch very little 'television' anymore.

We have the sh!t tier digital package (not even sure how many actual unique channels that totals but it doesn't really matter anyway). Apres work, M'Lady and I are quite happy having supper and watching an old episode of Big Bang Theory for redux laughs, then maybe some hand-holding time staring at an old Murder She Wrote or some Wipeout for cheap laffs.

I do not 'keep up' with anything current. I am not hip. I don't care.

I'd say Vegas money is on re-tread Nostradamus programs, that'd be my guess, lol.

There are a couple of programs that I watch regularly but other than those I don't tend to watch a lot of tv. I do make use of the On-Demand features quite often for movies though.

TV?
Oh ya, that is that thing that has a few minutes of TV shows between commercials…
I usually record or download what I want and watch it commercial free.
