if you believe those stories, fine, not I.

determined to be? that is just believed to be.

The best way to believe is to feel. Light is literally the giver of life. Ask your garden. Anyway the old guys also said that all that was necessary was to be good and kind and great wealth would be the reward of compassion and empathy.

light will do nothing for the garden, without water, and life cannot exist without water, they
do fine in the far north all winter with very little light, 'not' without water.

my garden, my family, my animals, my environment around me, the ocean, etc., make me feel happy and
content.

did the old guys walk the desert in smelly sandels wearing a sheet of some sort, probably, and they
might have been drinking a bit too. lol definitely water, mixed with ?.

You love to be surrounded by mother nature, another name for god, and light makes water.

mother nature is also a made-up name, its all our home and natural surroundings, and so are we, as
children of the earth, we all blend together to make everything complete, without any gods to
interfere, we know who we are and where we live, we are in charge of our own lives, the earth
cares for us, and we should be caring much better for the earth.

mother nature, gods, santa clause, peter rabbit, easter bunny, etc etc, all just names.

you are trying so hard to put a god into my life, sorry i'm not accepting your offer, but
thanks anyway, i'm not in need.

You've just made the earth a diety by giving it an emotion.

No Gods eh?

Sliiiiick!

no, you did, that is your idea, you have decided what I meant by my statements, you can't
do that, you can only explain your own statements.

I know what I meant, I made it clear, you can't change it around to suit you, doesn't work that way.

you are being very cute, but so transparent.

You're words not mine. The definition of "care" is very clear and you can't change it to suit your needs, doesn't work that way.

care (kâr)
n. 1. A burdened state of mind, as that arising from heavy responsibilities; worry.
2. Mental suffering; grief.
3. An object or source of worry, attention, or solicitude: the many cares of a working parent.
4. Caution in avoiding harm or danger: handled the crystal bowl with care.
5. a. Close attention; painstaking application: painting the window frames and sashes with care.
b. Upkeep; maintenance: a product for the care of fine floors; hair care products.

6. Watchful oversight; charge or supervision: left the child in the care of a neighbor.
7. Attentive assistance or treatment to those in need: a hospital that provides emergency care.

v. cared, car·ing, cares
v.intr. 1. To be concerned or interested: Once inside, we didn't care whether it rained or not.
2. To provide needed assistance or watchful supervision: cared for the wounded; caring for an aged relative at home.
3. To object or mind: If no one cares, I'll smoke.
4. a. To have a liking or attachment: didn't care for the movie.
b. To have a wish; be inclined: Would you care for another helping?

v.tr. 1. To wish; desire: Would you care to dance?
2. To be concerned to the degree of: I don't care a bit what critics think.

Only something with a conscience can care.

You are obviously a simple person of great faith, possibly the anti christ himself. As for the math it's garbage in garbage out that's why you have such faith in the gravity model. I wonder how much you are willing to test that faith of your's? How much money would you bet against the electric model?
It's not a matter of faith, it's a matter of good versus bad physics. The gravity model works, the electric one doesn't, it predicts effects that are not seen, like the huge magnetic field that would be generated by any current carrying enough power to account for the sun's output. But if you can't do the math you wouldn't know that. If you can't do the math you can't do the physics, all you can do is talk about it. I don't bet with people so ill informed as to believe Velikovsky was right, that's a sucker bet, for you. He couldn't do the physics either, and got just about everything wrong.

First of all to come to a concrete resolve of what is foolish and what is moral and immoral.
There are people who think some things are foolish while others don't agree and then
there is the whole topic of morality itself. One person might think for example living together
is immoral if not married and someone else says so what.. There are many definitions of
morality. There is a difference between morality and criminal behavior.
I think for the most part society has determined where morality ends and criminal behavior
begins, yet there is no consensus on what is moral and immoral, in many cases.
So good luck ending foolishness and immoral actions as a broad definition.

Hmm.

You say that, ------ for the most part society has determined where morality ends and criminal behavior begins, ----- and follow that with, ----- there is no consensus on what is moral and immoral.

If there is no consensus then society cannot do what you said it does.
Quite a contradiction.

Here is an example of the consensus we have reached and almost all governments and peoples go by it.

Society has 1 set of rules for the 1% and another set for the 99% and the smaller group certainly is less moral than the 99. That means society has evolved to the point a few have decided how they are to be treated by the many and at the same time removing those same guidelines when it comes to how the many can be treated by them.

You make my point. Evil grew because good people did nothing to offer an alternative group. Hive instinct is strong and rewarding even if they do have to shut down their thinking ability when the hive is a religion. That is why atheists have to fight a hive with a hive of their own.

This atheist doesn't HAVE to do anything. This atheist prefers to let people live their own lives whether they want to believe in nonsense or not. So you go right on ahead with your anti-jihad jihad if you like, but don't expect me to accept everything you say as gospel nor expect me to follow along in your anti-religion religion.

You can't correct people's foolishness and immorality unless they first agree that they're foolish and immoral. That's a pretty hard sell when what you consider foolish and immoral is their religious beliefs, especially when you open the conversation from such a condemnatory and aggressively judgmental position. Besides, I don't think you can label beliefs as moral or immoral, only actions can be judged that way. Can't condemn people for what they think about, only for what they do, or we'd all be in jail.

You'll never get atheists to join a hive either.
Quite.

I don't have faith at all that there is no god, I don't believe in god, so I don't have
to live my life with faith and hope that I am right, I don't think about it, I don't wonder,
that is for agnostics.
Well, wifey is agnostic. She openly admits she doesn't know if there are gods or not. She neither has faith there are nor has faith there aren't. She thinks that if there are gods, they are irrelevant and we will never know if there are or aren't anyway. She doesn't wonder either.
Me, on the other hand am atheist on the basis of probabilities and deductive reason. To me there are none because nothing has ever been shown to be attributable to gods and probabilities are against their existences.

Who makes flowers then and what about love, where does that come from? How about the perfume from lilac bushes, what makes stars twinkle, where does laughter come from and cute cuddly little babies puppies, bunnies and tiny little adorable beavers? eh what about that stuff.
Really? Doesn't your electricity do that?

Nuts. You can thank Cliffy for dragging this relic of a thread out of its sarcophagus.

Then don't use words you don't believe in and don't personify the earth a s caring god like entity. Sheeesh.

I will use words I choose to use, and you do the same, talk from your own position, not mine.

I am interested in what you think about the topic, not what you think about me, we aren't
discussing me.

Don't tell me what 'not' to say, that is not your place here.

My loooney bin statement is a general reaction to the thread, not an attack
on 'an' individual.
