That one isn't creative, it's a tax ruling. No chance of seizing assets. But if you never think outside the box you'll never challenge anything.
Put a check mark 'outside the box" and CRA will be on your *** like white on rice.

They are cracking down hard these days.

No need to cheat. If you file business expenses you can do what you need to do to get a refund.

You've never been randomly audited have you?
I have been and I welcome it. It's a good opportunity to actually speak with someone at the CRA that can help you find more deductions. Embrace it.

I have an accountant that worked for CRA for 25 years. In fact i spent the first 8 months of my existance in the revnoor offices in her womb.. I know all the loopholes that are legit and aren't "creative"(illegal).

And now you have problems with an audit? Why is that?

Don't let a good accountant get in the way. The truth only takes you so far in business.

It's a good thing that some (very few) cheat on taxes? If everybody paid their share, we'd all be paying less in the long run.

Thanks for ****ing all Canadians over. We appreciate it.

You must not be very good at running a business if you need to cheat to make money.

I'm doing fine without needing to rip off my fellow Canadian. Why is that?

I am sure the financial sector f*cks Canadians at every turn. If you do to it is nothing to be proud of.

I on the other hand file a simple T1 and don't bother to deduct even legitimate expenses or charitable donations. Then again, I can afford to do that, 2 or 3 grand a year makes little difference to my life. And I can be proud of paying more than my share.

I claim every dime I make, even the stuff I could hide easily. The CRA loves me.

"Creative" claiming isn't something you get loved for.

Subsection 76(6) imposes a penalty upon a corporation, where a person knowingly, or under circumstances amounting to gross negligence, makes an incorrect statement or omission (false statement). The penalty is the greater of:
  • $100, and
  • the sum of 50% of the applicable tax that would be payable on the understatement of income and 50% of the overstated amount of tax credits claimed under subsections 43.2 to 43.12. The understatement of income in loss years is determined using the rules of subsection 163(2.1) of the ITA and is deemed by subsection 76(8) not to be less than nil
Paying double trying to squeeze out a few extra bucks being "creative" isn't worth it when you pay as much as I do.

An FYI for you. YOU and the rest of US are the Govt and you are not only ****ing over yourself, you're ****ing over the rest of US not the Govt.

No, creative was the bike courier who made a case for food being fuel, and the CRA agreed. It doesn't have to be illegal to be creative.

I hear you, Nick and do the same but try to avoid sending it to the troughs in Victoria and Ottawa. Better to send it to Salvation Army, War Amps and the Terry Fox fund or even the S.P.C.A.

And the ones who do it don't do for long. Sheesh, I even got caught when I didn't mean to screw them. It was due to a Canada Post failure, I moved and I guess they returned a Tslip. Figured since they are both Feds I should have been off the hook.
