Disaster relief should be administered at the Federal level, otherwise you have 50 bureaucracies, with possibly 25 of them doing nothing in a given year.

So what is the issue that Romney is complaing about? Another phantom complaint and remedy?

He's complaining about the same things that Bush's detractors complained about after Katrina. People with agendas have to be taken with a grain of salt

As JTF said... lets abolish states then.

Ummmm... huh?
Where else do Americans live? Money doesn't grow on trees. If something has to be paid for it would seem reasonable to belive it has to come from people living in at least one of the United States.

I don't see your point, are you saying it's more expensive to have a federal disater relief centre that may or may not have anything to do with a potential Montana hurricane? What type of money is being spent on that at present?

What precisely is the benefit to having states run their own distater relief with no federal assistance?

When states "ask" for money.... they're basically having to ask for money that was taken from them.

True...money doesn't grow on trees. I hope someday the federal government realizes that. That the money they have in their coffers is money that was given by the people... who live in states.

The Feds were never supposed to have as much control they do and it creates far too much redundancy.

It was paid for by Americans. Are people who live in states not Americans? What if the "states" (actually Americans who live in them) haven't paid enough to be asking for it back, are they denied it?

You gotta pay for the staff's lunch at the annual meeting

Corporations no full well it is much more efficient to consolidate operations. You can't trade (or shouldn't trade) all stock in every regional stock exchange. It isn't cost efficient.

Is Pat Robertson still alive? He claimed Katrina was an act of God condemning homosexuals, or something like that. Does the Republican right have any God-fearing theories on this one?
