She's not more important, her story is not more tragic than the countless other children that have taken their own lives nor the ones that are currently suffering and struggling to get by. That her video has gone viral says more about those who give lip service to tragedy than it does about her or how her personal story is possibly and quite probably representative of what is currently going on out there.

She's dead. She's not getting anything out of this.

But there is absolutely no reason for anyone to be able to justify sick, pathetic and degrading comments about her either, including the perverted stain that was doing so here, last night. Because just like the viral video and her story are not really about her, that's not about her either. It's about sick, twisted individuals who have nothing better to do with their time than to waste ours with comments about dead little girls.

Her story is unfortunate and won't be the last. People don't learn very quickly. But there sure are a lot of other souls that killed themselves without this level of hysteria.

I think the images of her on T.V. displaying the cue cards probably added a little emotion.

I think it is almost as equally disgusting as all the negative commentary the way in which the "public" latches on in the way it does. I think they are turning her into a fad. And he's absolutely correct with what he says, she'll be forgotten as soon as the next 'new thing' comes along.

This is no different than the bus lady scoring six figures out her ordeal. It's wasn't her fault anymore than it is Amanda Todd's fault that it became what it became, but society collectively needs to give their damn head a shake. We all turn a blind eye to the everyday b.s. that goes on all around us, then laud these random individual stories. I mean, seriously, what the hell is wrong with us?

What good came out of it? That she got stinking rich and started an anti-bullying website/program?

Not to negate her, I don't feel any animosity towards her at all, more power to her. She should retire comfortably, good for her, I'm happy for her.

But why her over the countless, countless others?

Nothing was learned by the experience. How many kids have killed themselves since then over bullying? How many school boards/schools have we read about that expel the bullied kids once they've had enough and fight back but still seem to drag their heels with doing something about the initial problems in the first place?

I'm not convinced that anything good really comes out these stories that go viral.

Because a good samaritan came forth? Better one person should prosper I guess, than none. Why her? Why the person who buys the lucky lottery ticket? Life's a crap shoot and we should just celebrate any good that happens for whatever reason!

But again, it's not about what is says about her, it's what it says about us, about society as a whole. When we pick and choose like we do, we, inadvertently perhaps, relegate these people's lives to meaningless fodder on a certain level.

I am happy for her, just as I'm happy for people who win the 649. Good for them.

But when you dig past the surface, what do we really get out of it?

I've always thought that smart people learn from other's mistakes.

A person perhaps might learn. A person can be smart, people, I think, are dumb stupid animals. Just look at the headlines day in and day out.

Wow, talk about jaded and pessimistic.

Why Amanda and not someone else? I don't know, I'm just glad that Amanda and her plight are getting the coverage that it is. Maybe, just maybe, a child will be helped because of this, because of Amanda. It's one more small nail in the coffin of bullying. Whether we like it or not, it has raised awareness. Whether we like the method or not, it's doing the job. What I'd like to see is this NOT get forgotten. That Amanda is shoved in everyones face every day. Maybe then, something will be done.

I sincerely and fervently hope that you are right, I really, really do. That somehow, in some way, something will make a difference somewhere. I couldn't possibly wish for anything more.

But I have a really difficult time believing in that with all the vitriol that is out there. Actually what was said last night here actually made me feel sick to my stomach. Were it isolated it would be one thing, but it is freaking everywhere.

I really wish I could have more faith in the humanity of human beings, but I'm struggling with that. I really am. So jaded and pessimistic? Yeah, I'm afraid I am.

I have no faith in humanity at least of kids. As a kid, I have seen the 'humanity' of other kids first hand. I don't know why they do it but they have done it and continue to do it. I guess now the difference its on the internet now too which means its harder to run away from. It also gives a bit more degree of annonymity.

Amanda's fate is tragic. But unfortunatly, her suicide was on her. She lacked the inner toughness which was/is required to survive this. I know it sounds harsh but none of the stuff that was done to her was reason to end her life. Should it have happened? Ideally not. But it will always happen. Unfortunatly it's human nature. It's just how we as a species are particularly in our teen years. Fortunatly, most of use grow out of it and become nicer human beings in adulthood.

I don't believe we can put in laws which would prevent this.
