If education is free what stops professional students from taking up space and costing us all a bunch of money?

Okay. I know your just toying but as in the Norway or other scandinavian countries you have to meet certain schoolastic requirements to qualify.

As to the life long student well we, as a society could pretend we are smart and put a limit to one complete degree (including PHD) and if after that one wants to go well they would have to pay for the additional.

And let's not forget, we wouldn't be paying for anything except the tuition and books. All other living costs would have to be supplied by the student and if you ever lived as a poverty student as I did, it gets old pretty quick................

Swapping parts is the easy part. Knowing what to change takes education, experience and a few thousand dollars worth of test equipment.

Yes, well that was a specific example for JLM who learns by watching. Like courses I took, it could be offered to a larger group for a lower cost easily with online tools that are out there.

That is where kids that live close to a university have a real edge over those from the more remote parts of the country. We were poor enough when I was an apprentice and my wife at the time was still going to college in Vancouver.
