I guess you are unfamiliar with the wiz. He doesn't care about any such stuff. He's just got a thing against cops, probably because he thinks they persecuted him in the past for breaking laws.

And Judges REALLY tick him off!:lol::lol:

I enjoyed this exchange so much. What a great forum.

SLM: Do you not understand how a window works?

Bear: That's a trick question right?

SLM: Well, not usually.

Bear: Yet here we are.

SLM: So it would seem.

Classic CanCon. :)

You enjoyed it sooooo much you completely forget to pos rep me for bringing so much joy and laughter into your life.

:):):):):):):):):):)

Just kidding of course, lol.

Glad you enjoyed, Bear and I have been putting pretty much zero practice into our act, and so far that seems to be going well for us. Stick around for the midnight show, it's gets a little blue.;)

I think you're blowing this way out of proportion

Well, yeah.

Oh, is this your first Wizard encounter? You should go back through the archives to find the thread where the government of B.C. was plotting to kill people. Interesting read.

So what would have happened if the window was down partway to give a pet inside some fresh air? Would they have been ticketed as well? The reason I ask is that they suggest that windows be left partially open in hot weather to help the pets out(of course, I would hope that they wouldn't be left in the car very long regardless, but I still have to ask the question).

Personally I think it's a bit of a stretch with the wording of the code. It always comes down to what is reasonable in the end for people to do. As long as the windows aren't all the way down and someone can't easily reach in and unlock the door to gain entry, I'd say that was sufficiently enough 'secured' to meet the spirit of the law.

I also disagree with the original ticket given. I see cars around all the time with the windows down(partially or fully), and I've never heard of a ticket being issued. I can see it for a police (or other emergency response personnel) vehicle as there is a lot of equipment in them that is sensitive(computer, for one) in nature, but not an average joe's vehicle.

I think he was just a little over zealous, lol.

If it's a really hot day and you're stopping someplace that your pets
can't leave the vehicle with you, then leave them at home, or drop
them off at home before that stop.

I take my dogs with me much of the time, and leave the sunroof
open and the side windows cracked about three inches or so, &
that's year round when I'm in town except in the Hot-Hot of the
mid-day in summer. I think that is a deterrent to a thief in itself.

I think the word 'zealous' should be universally replaced in all dictionaries and thesaruseseses with 'boneheaded'.

Honestly if someone is willing to risk life and limb to get a car with dogs in it, I would almost, almost, say let them have it, they've worked for it. Lol.

Well yeah, lol.

For some reason though, I imagined he had this thought procession in his head prior to giving the ticket. "Look at that, windows wide open! That's just an invitation to theft! Then they'll calling us, crying about having their car stolen, and we have to fill out a frigging report. In triplicate!..." You get the idea, lol.

It wasn't malicious on his part, the ticketing, the guy was just trying to make his work day a little easier. :):):)

My car has a lock right on the side of the steering wheel to prevent unauthorized use. Convertibles, motorcycles?

I think theft prevention devices probably make the issue of windows up or down a moot point.

SLM, the lock eh1eh was talking about, is the ignition switch. Pretty much every car has one. Needs a key.

I am sure that if she HAD received the ticket (which she didn't) it would have been thrown out as pretty much every new vehicle these days have "theft deterrent devices" built in from factory.

I think leaving a pet in the car on a hot day as well. OR THE SPCA WILL STEAL YOUR PET.

SHould ask the cop exactly what the point of closing windows and locking doors on a convertible is. Other than getting the insurance company to buy a new top.

Check. Caffeine first, then attempt to articulate rational thought.

I think some pencil pushing desk jockey bureaucrat just magically found a new way to create revenue.and it certainly safer for a police officer that fighting real crime.

I can just see hordes of police officers cruising mall parking lots looking for windows rolled down 2 inches in order to collect the magical $81 fine

And then complain that they don't have enough police resources a must have a budget increase

Car theft is a real crime.

Now you're just being silly.
