We had a brownout here in Gopherland for a couple of hours - it was so bad it knocked out my telephone completely. Nothing I do can get it to work properly. May have to buy a new one.

Folks in India must have it real bad.

Why would anyone here give a sh!t what happened in India?

Why wouldn't anyone? After all most CC members are normal people with interests in foreign lands and some compassion for the problems of others. And we are talking 10 times the population of Canada without power. And today almost 20 times Canada's population. And just in case you did not notice Indo-Canadians now number about about one million. I expect they are interested in this.

Because self interest rules supreme in most people's lives.

I'm as normal as possible and have lived and worked in both Mexico and Central America-through prolonged power and water outages so I have a much better idea of how people conduct themselves under the circumstances.

And we are talking 10 times the population of Canada without power. And today almost 20 times Canada's population.

And my point is that they certainly don't care about me and I don't care about them nor should anyone.

Speaking of a supremely self interested bunch......

World typical 'Indo Canadian' blueberry farmer crying about money, money, money.

They could be wondering why they can't reach their grandparents for their weekly call. They could be wondering why their college friend hasn't made her Scrabble move. They could be trying to figure out why their international coworkers aren't returning e-mail.

Do you honestly not know anyone in India?

I don't know anyone in India but my heart goes out to all the people in that country. It must be a literal
nightmare. The reality is that dozens, if not hundreds of people will die because of this power outage.
I remember a power outage in New York City a few years back that ended up with about 90 deaths.
In India with 670 million people without power, I wouldn't attempt to guess the number.

Anyone with problems concerning their phone or satellite feed from Telus might just be a bit concerned as tech support is based in India.

You asked and I answered. If you don't think you'll like the answer don't ask the question.

Let us all know when you have a cogent or even slightly relevant statement posted here-the disconnected drivel as quoted adds exactly SFA.

As to the 'unfortunates' it's good thing so many of them cook on gas burners otherwise they'd be eating cold stale Chapatis three times a day.

Anyway I now see everything is back to 'normal'.
