Ohhhhhhhhhh, so they tagged the Easterners' ballots so they know how they voted. Albertans may be rednecks but I think the voting is on the up and up!

I never said that the elections were fixed just that Alberta has more easterners living there than they did 40 years ago

The outcome surprised me. Obviously the pollsters were very mistaken and I was mistaken to put faith in the polls.

The polls took place before the election and everyone knows anything can change on election day.

The Ontario election was pretty much what the polls were predicting so your bull**** theory about scrapping analysis to save a buck doesn't make sense.

Two Women’s Fight For Power In Redneck Country

http://www.calgaryherald.com/news/alberta/Tories+Wildrose+Campaign+erupts+into+words/6426374/story.html

This has to be a first for Alberta politics two women leaders of two Conservative parties fighting for the same voters.

Wildrose who is radically to the right and PCs that are closer to the centre.

Forget about the male vote they are counting on the women voters to carry one of them to victory, men will have to play second fiddle in this election and women’s lib have won the day.

In this election women’s issues are front and centre and the men are led out to pasture because let’s face it they are only good for one thing seed planting.

At the end of the day the wooden spoon will rule and the pecking order will be realigned.

Funny how the economic hub of Canada has a 41 year Conservative government eh? I'd rather be a redneck than a pariah.

The take-away on your comment may also be that private industry reacts positively to long term political stability to a degree.

It really must bother you that the AB Lib party came so very close to losing party status... Or maybe, you're choked that a new, fledgling party (WDR) was able to make more strides in this election than the liberals have done in the last 41 years.

Resources were there before the rednecks were.

I guess that means that Albertan's don't trust Liberals or New Democrats to manage those resources or subsequent businesses. You need only to look to Ontario to understand that, what with prior and serving left wing governments who are anti-business and pro-taxation.

How's that working out for all you Dalton supporters anyway?

Alberta Liberal leader's big mistake was that he wanted to raise taxes which is a big no no in any party

Stelmach (the last AB premier before Redford) tried to pull that stunt in fooling around with the royalty structure in the province... The reaction was almost immediate with land sales dropping to unheard of lows in AB (and rising in Sask and BC). A huge % of the drilling rigs went east or west to service the new jurisdictions.

Buddy changed his tune pretty quickly, but once you change the heading of the ship, it takes some time to reverse course.

The same way your M.O. worked out for Mulroney when he killed the country.

See how easy it is to spin ideology without looking at the specifics?

It's not as simple as "tax good" or "tax bad".

There are those that are chronically mad and those that are perpetually so. It's a condition of the whiny ones. They feel it their duty to inform us of how stuff went down in their pinheaded opinions.

But they still mad.

The Country benefited greatly from Mulroney's Free Trade. The reaction to the GST was an over-reaction and Liberals adopted it the moment they got into government. Pierre Trudeau got us into this fiscal mess.

Yea but they are doing it for your own good.

Yep, I might have spent my money on beer or popcorn or VHS rentals.

We do not have a very conservative government as it stands. It's Conservative in name only. They remained our government through this election only because a large number of left leaning voters saw that fact, and decided to vote centrist to prevent a truly conservative government.

LOL Karrie.

What you mean to say is that they wanted to prevent a Separtist Party from taking the reins. Where is Grain when I need him? LOL.

I'll be back in AB in a few weeks.
