US Burns Qurans at Bagram, Sparking Major Protests

Gen. Allen Promises to Stop Burning Qurans in Future

.......and then they have the nerve to ask: "why do they hate us"?

The uncouth conduct continues......and regardless of the number of empty apologies that are released.....nothing will change in the basic attitude. The americans despise the ME world, its culture, its religion and the ME hates the americans. One simply neutralizes the other......and no progress (humanitarian ) is made.

Between whizzing on dead bodies, burning their Quran. , the torture stories (all true) planned assassinations, and the guilty until proven innocent mindset , starting wars on LIES and manipulation . becoming an organic war machine....the good ol' US has defined a whole new image for itself. Fprtunately , the US is no longer an example to the world

and that is the biggest tragedy of the current century. A nation with so much promise....

the reality is that when folks don't at least demonstrate a modicum of respect for another......they do not warrant any respect either. checks and balances.

For every american killed , how many in the various nations now, have been slaughtered??? Or does america care ???

Yup....It was a drug bust and the cops seized the cell phone....Boo friggin' Hoo....
But she'll never read this...we're on her iggy list:lol:
Not to mention, it was limited to numbers only. There's no new precedent set here.

Posner compared the cell phone to a diary. Just as police are entitled to open a pocket diary to copy an owner’s address, they should be able to turn on a cell phone to learn its number, he wrote. But just as they’re forbidden from examining love letters tucked between the pages of an address book, so are they forbidden from exploring letters in the files of a phone.

A defendant challenged the use of numbers from a cell, seized during a drug bust, and lost.

We just returned from two months "Down Under" and had a good chance to look at the US from another perspective. In my opinion the place is now being run by a Congress that has no allegiance to the nation or its citizenry. The administration has its own agenda too and none of those supposed leadership groups have anything in mind except their own personal wealth and power. SAD!

The Cost of America’s Police State

Hundreds of billions have been spent to militarize our nation against a terrorism threat that barely exists

The Cost of America’s Police State      : Information Clearing House

Something seriously disproportionate in the above. If that much was spent on Education , health care .......

Psychologically...........terrorism has won many times over...........each time the word is uttered and certain images are brought forth.

Is this a good thing??

President Obama signed an Executive Order for “National Defense” yesterday that claims executive authority to seize all US resources and persons, including during peacetime, for self-declared “national defense.”
The EO claims power to place any American into military or “allocated” labor use (analysis here and here).
“American exceptionalism” is the belief that a 200+ year-old parchment in the National Archives has magical powers to somehow guarantee limited government from 1% tyranny, despite the specific and clear warnings of the US Founders, despite world history of repeated oligarchic/1% tyranny claiming to be for the “good of the people,” and despite US history’s descent into vicious psychopathy (short version here: US war history in 2 minutes) hidden in plain view with paper-thin corporate media propaganda.

Obama Executive

Bit by bit.....

The news then is certainly grim, and moving in one clear direction — the use of the law, or at least the Justice Department’s version of the law, to justify whatever acts thegovernment feels are necessary against whomever they deem to be the enemy. Attorney General Holder summed the situation up tellingly in his defense of the al-Awlaki killing.
In significant detail, he explained that the killing of an American citizen (and terror suspect) was lawful, despite the fact that it brought into question the guarantee of due process under the Fifth Amendment, and despite the guarantees offered by the laws of war. “Due process,”he declared, “is not judicial process.” It was a startlingly honest admission of something new under the American sun: due process is now what the president and his closes advisers decide it is, a constitutional rethinking of the first order to justify the“targeted killing” of an American citizen.

A New Age of Enemies by Tom Engelhardt -- Antiwar.com

This is NOT america anymore. It is something morphing into an entity filled with unknowns , and more disruption of the rights the founding fathers tried to ensure as a lasting quality of america

The increased secrecy is concerning. How many American citizens have to die in a targetting killing before the population SEES and realizes the path it is on.

The security and surveillance state does not deal in nuance or ambiguity. Its millions of agents, intelligence gatherers, spies, clandestine operatives, analysts and armed paramilitary units live in a binary world of opposites, of good and evil, black and white, opponent and ally. There is nothing between. You are for us or against us. You are a patriot or an enemy of freedom. You either embrace the crusade to physically eradicate evildoers from the face of the Earth or you are an Islamic terrorist, a collaborator or an unwitting tool of terrorists. And now that we have created this monster it will be difficult, perhaps impossible, to free ourselves from it. Our 16 national intelligence agencies and army of private contractors feed on paranoia, rumor, rampant careerism, demonization of critical free speech and often invented narratives. They justify their existence, and their consuming of vast governmental resources, by turning even the banal and the mundane into a potential threat. And by the time they finish, the nation will be a gulag.

Is this a comforting path to take?? One cannot help but ask.......what is next?? Seems that the population is just quietly accepting these rather radical changes rather matter of factly.
