Passing is a fading art now. Finesse has less and less of a place in the game. In a restricted area, muscles rule. Players keep getting bigger/faster and bump into each other more so power gains ascendency. See concussions and that Crosby guy.
The NHLPA would never support 4 on 4 as they would lose jobs, two per team as four lines of four means a roster of 16, which would replace 12 forwards and 6 defencemen for a roster of 18 now. But fans would win.
No, they would not support 4 on 4 for just the reason you state, and also the league did try to get
staged fighting out of the game, and the NHLPA blocked it.
I guess i'm a bit different because I love great defense as well as good offense, and tonights game is
not an example of how the games are played these days.
I watched san jose play washington, not a defensive game at all.
I watched detroit play phoenix a few nights ago, a great game, as phoenix matched them play for play,
and both teams are great defensive teams, but the game was so fast, with scoring chances as well, and
great goalkeeping, it was very entertaining.
I love watching edmonton play, but only when their defense is playing well, then it balances the great
young offensive players they have, then they can give teams a good game.
I don't like offensive games, I like good balance, but tonight the defense was overpowering the offense.
Nashville is playing a very entertaining brand of hockey this season, very fast skating.
I would agree with you if games were slow like they were before lockout, boring defensive games, with
too many whistles because players are holding players against the boards to get a whistle.
Too many stoppages.
There you are, was hoping to see what you had to say. Yeah, that puck was stoppable for sure. Still, I do think Lu is doing pretty good lately, don't you?
Liked the fact that both teams wanted to play hockey more than did spending time in the penalty box.
David Booth is the new Canuck phenom.
booth had a very good game tonight, but I don't think he has played well of late, so I hope that we
see more play like we saw tonight.
he is a great skater, not just fast, but strong as well.
I also saw some great play from cody hodgson, he is so very smart, so strong on his legs, and plays
a great defensive game as well as offensive.
the team didn't have any room tonight, but neither did phoenix, so it was just 'who' made the most
mistakes, or who had the best scoring chances off of the rush, like booth's goal.
