the boston team is - plus 69, only 69 goals against.

they are deep and roll four lines, good lines, no one should expect to go in there
and blow them away.

play them the way they play you, and canucks can do that, and that doesn't mean
dirty play, it means four good lines, playing 'both' ways, and the goalie playing
well too.

they give very few good scoring chances, so teams must play a good team game.

boston played their back up goalie, but he is like schneider, good enough to be a starter.

calgary had their 3rd goalie playing till about half way point, and it was 6 nothing
when kiprisoff went in, then 3 more after that.

I'm pretty certain luongo will be playing on saturday, although I hear some saying that
schneider should play because he is a boston guy, and should play at home, just like
luongo played in montreal, which is his home.

I think luongo needs to play there, as he needs to regain his confidence in boston, which
he obviously completely lost in the playoffs.
And, obviously if he doesn't play, the chat will be 'that' he is hiding from the
boston team because of poor play in playoffs, not sure if that is important, but
it will happen.

its amazing how the 'side show' from fans and media has become nasty concerning tomorrows
game.
I heard the boston media this morning, and also a local fan who is a boston fan, and the
vile words that roll from their mouths is 'interesting' for lack of a better word.

Canucks are not a team who can go in to boston and start throwing bodies around and become
very physical and mean, THEY MUST go in there and play their hearts out, play 'their' game
and pay no attention to anything else.

If they don't they will be trashed by the bruins, who have scored 'more' goals than any
other team, and have let in 'less' than any other team.

They had a good chat with daniel sedin on team 1040 this morning, and he and danny must
make sure their team doesn't get caught up in anything 'other' than good hockey.

The boston fans will be nasty, but that won't bother the team, only canuck fans and media.

Sure hope the power play finds its way back to success, as of late it hasn't been going
that well, just like it didn't during the playoffs.

wanted to play cory in boston. BUT

I think there is more to it. Lu is on a role right now, and playing the best hockey he
has played for a long time. Playing tomorrow, (if it went all sideways) could set him
back from this nice run of good play, so why do that. He would have to listen to jeers,
and, unless he won the game, it would be a negative day for him.

And, it is a bit of a shock for boston as well, they were expecting lu, now they get
cory, not the guy they were hoping for, and wanting to stuff pucks by.

Now, I hope cory plays lights out for his sake, and if he does, and we still lose by
one or two, no sweat at all, just another game, and move on, but if he wins, it is
a feather in his cap, and ups his stock, and turns a few more heads.

yeah, I think it is a good strategy, although the boston low life will accuse them of
being scared to play luongo, but who cares what they say, it means nothing to anyone
but them.
I've watched boston play quite a few times this season, and they haven't stooped to the
cheap shots, with exception of lucic, they just work very hard and play very well, and
thomas of course is their ace in the hole, so they are very hard to beat, as the stats
will tell, canucks just need a good game, hard work, good goalkeeping, then whatever
happens, happens, a close score, for either team will be a success, then move on,
and later on, beat them for the stanley cup. lol
seems pretty simple to me.
Just as gillis says, their big direction is getting out of the western conference, not
one game with an eastern team.

there is positive/realistic in my head, nothing negative, even a loss, if the score is
close, is positive.
Boston is playing the third game in four days, so maybe they will be a bit fatigued,
but i'm not counting on it.

Canucks started the game very well, were definitely the best team on the ice, and there is
no way bruins were going to go along with that, although burrows was actually the first one
to light the fuse for the physical battle, it was going to happen anyway, and I didn't
enjoy all of that crap.

Canucks played it well, finally the power play came through, and if it was like that in
the playoffs they would have easily won the cup, along with luongo playing better.

Canucks actually outhit the bruins in the game, and played a smart game, their talent
came through, and the bruins hurt themselves with their ignorant type of hits, marchand
should be keelhauled for what he did to salo.

He is an ugly little twirp, and someone should teach him to do a hip check, maybe ballard
or hamhuis can give him some lessons.

Sure hope salo isn't injured long term, he did travel with them to florida, so at least
he isn't in the hospital, because the way he landed I thought he might have a similar
injury to raymond's from last season, but maybe it is his shoulder.

Canucks got rid of lots of left over emotion today, and they don't have to prove anything
now, and if they ever get a chance, (and the probability of that is slim) to meet them
again for the stanley cup, they will be better, especially in goalkeeping, as schneider
is just as good as luongo, as I think he can handle the stress better.

Good for him winning today, he played well, deserved the win.

Thomas butt ended malhotra while he was down after being tripped, and it was very visible
on the replay, not a very classy move at all.

Back to back in florida next, then off to st. louis before returning home.

We all knew the Bruins were a bunch of brats in the playoffs, this year they will be shaking in their boots if they meet us in the playoffs again and they won't know if they are facing Lu or Schneider until just before the puck is dropped! :lol:

I agree the Canucks were the better team overall-not perfect but better.

Boston shot themselves in the foot several times over and you could see that in Claude Julien's face-he's not nearly as good at the poker face as AV.

Thinking afterward I could see where Boston sort of puts pressure on themselves-they are the champions after all but in a war of attrition like the Stanley Cup playoffs it's a thin claim if you can't back it up every night.

Plus/Minus stats are joke. The Bruins lost the game and no one on Boston is minus, yet so many on Vancouver are (and they won).

I guess they factor out powerplays. That sure skews the numbers. Pretty crappy stat if you ask me.
