Thorton may have seen better days-he gave the puck away three times tonight and didn't look to be in the game at all.

Yes it sounded bland-I lost my video feed but from the audio it sounded like I didn't miss much.
yes, we were mentioning all of his giveaways, they were big giveaways, too bad we couldn't score on them.

canucks still have lots of games, minnesota, boston, tampa bay, florida and they don't get a big rest till leading up to
the all star game, where their schedule slows down.

its good for canucks that oilers defeated black hawks tonight.

I had nothing to do this afternoon, raining all day, so I looked into many of
the teams 'two' top forwards on their teams, and added their points together.

I had it all set up in nice columns, but they didn't stay that way when I submitted,
but it can be understood, if one wishes.

the plus/minus is an important stat, for 'all' players, offensive as well as defensive. That stat shows responsibility for both sides of the puck, not just
going one way.
vineault won't have a player on the ice who ignores playing a 200 foot game, and
they will spend time in the minors till they learn that skill.

the sedins are a good example of 200 foot players, they are not the fastest skaters
in the game, but they work hard to make sure they do not shirk their duties, and
back check all the way up the ice.

and of course ryan kesler is the existing selke trophy holder, which is the cup
for just that kind of player. plus/minus as well as goals and assists.

this is approx half way mark of the season.

LIVE ON SNET-P(HD) Radio: 1040 Wild Wed 04/01/2012 7:00 PM Canucks- Wild

Preview Struggling Wild head to Vancouver, Pete Jensen - NHL.com Staff Writer Stats

Last 10: Minnesota 1-6-3; Vancouver 6-3-1.

Season Series: Wednesday's clash at Rogers Arena marks the fourth of six meetings between these division rivals. Vancouver has taken two of the first three head-to-head matchups this season with Minnesota. Their last meeting also came in Western Canada, as Roberto Luongo stopped all 33 shots to help the Canucks blank the Wild, 4-0, on Dec. 19.

Big Story: The top two teams in the Northwest division square off as the Wild look to even the season series with the Canucks. Vancouver, which holds a three-point lead on Minnesota for the division lead with the same number of games played (40), is fresh off a 3-2 shootout loss to the San Jose Sharks on Monday. The Wild, meanwhile, dropped their final game of the calendar year in a 4-2 home loss Saturday at the hands of the Phoenix Coyotes.

Team Scope:

Wild: The Wild have lost nine of their last ten games overall, and enter a difficult stretch beginning Wednesday at Vancouver that sees them play six of their next seven games away from Xcel Energy Center. After an important divisional victory over the Edmonton Oilers last Thursday to snap an eight-game winless skid, the Wild allowed three unanswered goals to lose the momentum on home ice Saturday against the Coyotes.

Matt Cullen's conversion on a third period penalty shot gave Minnesota a jolt of positive energy, but a late empty-netter by Phoenix’ Ray Whitney sealed another excruciating loss for the Wild.

"Emotional or not, we have to come to the rink and be ready to go and play a certain way," coach Mike Yeo told the Associated Press. "We don't have a choice. We're not going to go in and just drop our sticks and win hockey games."

Canucks: After outscoring its opponents 27-15 during a stretch of six wins in seven games, Vancouver has taken a step back with only three goals in consecutive losses to the Kings and Sharks. The Canucks sport the League's best power-play conversion percentage (23.9), but are only two for their last 21 on the man advantage in their last six games.

Luongo did his part on Monday at Rogers Arena, stopping 33 of 35 shots to help the Canucks earn a point, but San Jose blanked Vancouver in the shootout to hand Alain Vigneault's team consecutive losses for the first time since mid-December.

"We weren't good enough," Henrik Sedin told the AP. "We got our chance on the power play, but we weren't sharp enough and didn't create enough chances to score. They played well. But still, I thought we had chances to maybe get a few more shots to the net and we were passing up opportunities to shoot."

Who’s Hot: Pierre-Marc Bouchard, who scored in the second period of Minnesota's loss to Phoenix on New Year's Eve, has tallied three goals in his last four games. … Daniel Sedin, despite seeing his four-game point streak come to an end against the Sharks, has recorded four goals and an assist with a plus-4 rating in his last five games.

Injury Report: Minnesota has activated Devin Setoguchi (lower body) off injured reserve, as the forward will likely be available Wednesday in Vancouver. Casey Wellman (upper body) was also activated off IR for the Wild. Guillaume Latendresse (concussion) and Jarod Palmer (upper body) remain on IR and are expected to miss the game for Minnesota, while Clayton Stoner (groin) made the trip to Vancouver and could be available for the Wild this week. … David Booth (knee) and Aaron Rome (broken thumb) are on IR and will miss Wednesday's game for the Canucks.

Stat Pack: Cody Hodgson notched a goal and an assist in Monday's shootout loss to San Jose, extending his home point streak to six games. Hodgson has put together the longest point streak in home games by a Vancouver rookie since Dixon Ward had a stretch of six straight games with at least a point in November of 1992.

Puck Drop: "Our execution may be a tad off and when you're a tad off, with the quality of goaltending and quality of penalty killing in this League is challenging," Vigneault said.

This years injuries have been epidemic. Right now, on NHL injury lists, are the equivalent of 7 NHL teams with 22 men rosters.

thats amazing, and now with of all the information on concussions, the awareness has made those injuries
more recognizable, and greater care is given before they return, whereas before, they were sent back into
action far too soon.

the game is so fast now, and players bigger, so hits, collisions and other mishaps happen with a much
bigger impact than long ago, hence more injuries, BUT I see improvement in individual play, and the effort
to hit with more thought, and also receive a hit with more preparation is also noticeable.

shanahan is giving out suspensions, and explaining each one with a video, (they can be viewed on NHl.com),
and the few players in the league who are careless, thoughtless and also mean, are being sorted out, and
with each offence, they will be dealt with more severely, and if that doesn't stop them, they will be
suspended indefinitely.

stuff happens on the ice, the game is a violent game, always has been, that is the nature of the game, and
that is the way the players want it, hard hitting, fast skating, so there will always be injuries, can't
be stopped, never has, and never will, just the nature of the sport.

Another convincing win for Lu and the boys! I love it.

A "must win" coming up Saturday in Boston.

well, even if they don't win, they have to show up, play hard, and make a good
game of it, especially luongo.
if they lose by one, but played well, worked hard, and could have won, that will
do it for me.
tim thomas is a very difficult goalie to score on, so if they get lots of shots at
him and win, or just about win, and play very well, thats OK.

Boston are playing very well, beating almost every team who come to play them.

Its a return to a place with bad memories for them, so they must erase those, and move
on feeling better about the boston gardens.

Even though Canucks are first over all (I have a slight problem with that) Boston has 5 games in hand, so I just think it would be icing on the Canucks cake if Boston loses one of the five they are going to lose to the Canucks! They are just too arrogant, actually replaced Calgary in the arrogance department.

Bruins do have games in hand, but those games must be won to make the difference, and they haven't won
them yet, and even if they do, canucks will also be playing and probably will win more than they lose.

all of the top five below canucks have games in hand, so however that settles after
they come closer to equal games will change a bit, but same teams will still be
in the top six, and close in points, with lots of season left.

it will juggle around quite a bit for a while, but canucks won't wander very far
from the top, and as long as they stay within the top five for a while, then
they will be right there to compete for first overall at the end.

Some of that comes from millbury, and even don cherry, and many others, and it is very dissapointing,
all eastern people, and of course one right here on this board, who sends in lots
of posts for one reason only, 'to say the sisters as much as he can', and has no
other purpose for posting here at all, also very ignorant.

Well, Milbury is an idiot, and Cherry is an ignorant idiot who worships Boston and Toronto; what more do you need to know?

The 'two girls no cup' thing is hilarious; it's a pun based on a web video, and under NO circumstances should you look for that video.

I hope Scheider plays goal and the Canucks play as rough and tumble of a game as they can w/o taking stupid penalties.

But just on the off chance a guy did want to see it where would he look?
