Only Vancouver I think has its own PD. We need a regional police force for Vancouver, where half the population of the province lives. Whenever some kind of disaster happens like a riot, they always say the different forces have different radios and can't communicate. It is so juvenile.

Let rural people work in rural areas, which the RCMP are best at.

You and I have the very same power and authority. Never, ever, EVER think otherwise.

Not quite, citizens only have the authority to make an arrest if they have witnessed a suspect committing an indictable offense, and you have to pretty much catch them in the act. Police can also make an arrest on suspicion, or for investigative purposes, which are sometimes made with flimsy, if any evidence. Sure, you can arrest an LEO if you see him or her committing an indictable offense, but I wouldn't want to see what may happen trying to cross the thin blue line. I fear Sir Robert Peel's concept of consentual policing is nothing more than an obscure line in a dusty history book somewhere. Just for a laugh, ask any LEO to recite the 9 principles of consentual policing.

Get yourself a taser and if you see cops breaking the law and getting out of hand zap the **** out of them. Reasonable force which apparently includes torture weapons like tasers to ensure your safety and the safety of others isn't a special privilege that only cops have. The Charter says that only The Lord our God is the ruler of all Canadian, space, time and dimensions and you and I have the #2 spot. It's our duty in the #2 spot to taser cops who are assholes. You are not being a true Charter upholding Canadian if your not tasering asshole law breaking cops.

All non-lethal weapons are classified as prohibited, (with the exception of bear spray, which of course would land you in the klink if you carried it downtown), and the only prohibited weapons civilians are allowed to own are firearms, that is if they hold a license to do so. Try getting a permit to carry a restricted firearm if you are not an LEO, armed guard, (as the title would suggest), trapper, officer of the courts, or cabinet minister.

Funny thing about the Charter too:

"The Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms guarantees the rights and freedoms set out in it subject only to such reasonable limits prescribed by law as can be demonstrably justified in a free and democratic society."

Whatever the government of the day considers, and the courts agree are "reasonable limits", are considered constitiutional. The Charter gives the illusion of protecting rights an freedoms without really doing any such thing. Governments are constantly making end runs around it.
