Delusion, Trick & Fraud: 'Global warming nonsense lobby to collapse'

Canada has pulled out of the 1997 anti-global warming Kyoto protocol, saying the treaty is 'not working'. The departure comes a day after further climate talks in South Africa led to a new agreement, which is set to replace Kyoto by 2015. Piers Corbyn, the founder of the Weather Action Foundation, hopes Canada withdrawal will lead to the collapse of "useless" Kyoto protocol.

I like the idea that, if you're not in a treaty, you're still governed by the treaty.

I'd like to do up a contract like that, mentalfloss will no longer be allowed to post about climate change, and even if you don't agree, you'll be bound by the contract.

Like I said, I have no idea of the full ramifications of this. The legal and treaty conditions will be better understood as the story develops.

To some degree, it does. It depends on the numbers.

When it comes to Climate Change we are dealing what some call a global emergency. Life on this planet hinges on the actions that humans take today. So how can China's emissions be less dangerous because they had a late start?

Face it Floss... the Climate Change movement is afraid of taking on China and they are making excuses for them to focus their energy on getting money from Europe and North America.

China's emissions aren't less dangerous.

The U.S. is the official proximate cause even if China is guilty as well.

Upon further examination, I just realized this isn't total emissions.

It's the total emissions for the year 2008.

Why the trickery?

The data is also (somewhat) limited in terms of how they measure:

"The data only considers carbon dioxide emissions from the burning of fossil fuels and cement manufacture, but not emissions from land use such as deforestation."

China is (apparently) at the top of the heap and considering that the avg citizen doesn't operate an automobile, one can speculate that as their economy grows, and more folks purchase material items (cars), their emissions will shoot much higher.

One can definitely speculate. Considering they have a much, much lower per capita rating of CO2 emissions compared to Canada and the U.S., it will have to shoot up quite high to be comparable.

As for the auto industry, China is the leader in electric vehicle development. I'm sure they recognize they are one of the top emitters and the electric car is the inevitable future to counterbalance per capita emissions.

I do agree though, that they seriously need to cut down on total annual emissions and stop this pissing contest with Americans over who's economy penis is bigger.
