It's much better to do with other drugs what they did with alcohol. Legalizing and regulating it made money for the government and stopped all the crime surrounding its distribution. Only fools can look at the history of prohibition and think "Ya, that worked real well"
As a conservative, it is this type of attitude that makes me uncomfortable. I want less government in my life as I believe governments are inherently inept and generally screw up everything they try and do. For the life of me, I can't understand how other conservatives believe that giving the government the power to kill its citizens (in this case without a trial) is a good thing. Do you consider yourself conservative and, if so, can you explain to me why you wish to hand over so much power to the government?
Your argument sounds good. But you are equating drugs with alcohol. What percentage of those who use alcohol become addicted? 5%, 10%? What percentage with hard drugs?
It doesn't matter. Besides, it is a red herring anyway. Drug use would not be the same under a legalized system as it is under an illegal system, just like alcohol consumption wasn't. The simple fact of the matter is that legalization has occurred elsewhere and been reasonably successful. At the very least, the problems associated with the criminal element has disappeared. Prohibition of alcohol didn't work and prohibition of drugs isn't working. Some folks just don't understand the concept of learning from history.
I'm guessing there are far fewer people pushing illegal drugs than there were boot leggers back in the 20s. Let's get all these bastards importing and pushing drugs in jail and then take a look at legalizing the use.

Cried about "alleged stalkers"? I'm flattered if they are stalking me and I wouldn't "cry" about them if they weren't. I do find it very interesting that you claim to know so much about what I post on here. I must be very important in your life for you to try and keep track. Can't say I envy your addiction. I sure am glad I have worldly pursuits (other than you) to occupy my time.
