Saturday evening is the last pre season game for canucks. It will be the first time we will see the
lineup they will use to start the season.

It was an excellent pre season. I loved the way they played all of the new and older guys who are trying
to find a spot on the team, and kept the regulars back till the latter part of the pre season, and now they
are playing a couple of games to warm up for the season.

Of course, with kesler, and raymond still out for quite a while yet, those two spots will be filled till
they return. Aaron Rome broke a finger, so he is out for about 5 or 6 weeks.

The organization is deep in young players, and players on the farm, so they have a nice group to pick from,
and also to call up in case of injury.

Eddie Lack, farm team goalie will be a great goalie when he finally is a starter in the NHL, he is about
6ft 5 in, and plays very very well, has a great personality, and seems so calm all the time.

Cory Schneider had a great game last night, even though they lost 3-0, which means nothing because san jose
had a very strong team out there, and canucks only had a few regulars, its all just to evaluate players, and
not to make any big statements re: winning or losing.
That was Schneider's third start, and he did not look good in the first two, but great last night.

Luongo has had only one game, looked a bit rusty, but made some good stops too, so he will play tomorrow night,
to get a second game under his belt before the season opener, next thursday.

One of the brighter lights on the Canucks last night in my estimation, was
C. Hodgson. I just wish he were four inches taller and thirty pounds heavier.

I don't know if I would say that the score flattered the Canucks, but maybe..
Take away the las two goals that were scored in the dying minutes of the
third period and it would still have been 2 - 1 for the Canucks. Close only
counts in horse shoes......Lol

they are still feeling their way along, they definitely knew they weaknesses, after listening to interviews.

luongo saved the day in the first period, and gave them a chance to get it together.

edmonton will be better this year, and when their full defence is playing they will be pretty strong.

all of those high draft picks they have now are looking very good, so they won't be the doormats this year,
and it will be fun watching those very very good young guys playing together.

I liked cody hodgson's game, he looked very sharp, and will only get better.

Defense was OK, but had a few wierd fumble bum plays. It was their first game all together, so not
concerned about the kinks, they will smooth out.

And, I don't expect the canucks to dominate the division or the conference, san jose, l.a. anaheim and edmonton
should all be stronger, not sure about calgary, colorado or minnesota, we'll see.

I don't really want to see them dominate at all, like to see them have to fight for every point, and I like to see the conference very strong, makes for better games all round, between all the teams.

4-3 loss in a shoot out

luongo looked awful in shoot out, and also did not play a good game, he let in 2 bad goals, flurry let in 1
bad goal, the math tells me, it was our game to win without those errors.

don't know why samuelsson was chosen as a shooter.

the twins played awsome, the whole line did

higgins was great as well

cody hodgson was good, his line mates did nothing, samuelsson had a bit of a spark toward the end of the game.

defense were all good, and ballard scored a highlight goal, sent the first pass out from his zone, sprinted
up the ice and received a beautiful pass from henrik, shot and scored, beautiful goal.

canucks were great in the last period, totally outplayed penguins, had a bit of bad luck, or they could have won it before shootout.

they're on the road now, for next game. columbus,(mon), philly,(wed) detroit(thurs) and edmonton sat.

GO CANUCKS GO

Luongo is embarrassing.

yeah, it is embarrassing, I agree. That game was the canucks to win, they started slow, but definitely
were on their way to a win in the last period, had it not been for luongo's messes.

BUT its no different than any october he has played since the beginning. He's terrible at the start,
then seems to get it together and shine for the rest of the year, till playoffs.

I am watching now to see if vineault will play schneider next game, and many more games so that he is
a big part of canucks goaltending by the time playoffs roll around.

Luongo is a big puzzle indeed. I would hate to be coaching him, and gillis has his hands tied because
of the contract. Once we get past october, (if he plays according to his past), then he will be lights
out for the year, then what. How does a coach manage that type of play, and also as playoffs approach
again, as the coach, if he has played excellent goal to that point, how does he decide how he will play
him in the playoffs.
In Boston last season, he was a frenzie of nerves, and couldn't do anything, but he was good at home, they don't want to go thru that again.

The only goal I will defend him on last night is latang's shoot out goal, a beautiful move, and no goalie
would have stopped it, ande latang does that all the time.

Luongo is embarrassing.

Yeah, it is embarrassing when they should have won that game about a dozen
times in the third. Luongo did not exactly cover himself with glory. The Canucks
couldn't buy a goal in the shoot out, while Luongo let in all the Penguins needed.
I know one of the goals would have been hard for any goalie to stop, but I thought
he choked on the others. He has not been playing like a 5 million dollar goaltender.

its too bad he had to start the season off on a bad note, the team should have had 2 points,
and now, he has put himself in the bad books with the fans again, and it just looked like a continuation
from those very bad games in boston.

gillis has to take big responsibility for this situation, as he gave him that contract, and now he
can't do much about it.
I hated that long term signing, I think all of them are silly, don't know why g.ms do that, it is
their call, and if all of them refused to get into that trap, none of them would happen. It is
the gms who bring it on to themselves.

Look at the contract ehrhoff got this season, and he didn't ask for it, didn't expect it, he was going
to test the free agent market, and the buffalo gm panicked and offered him the big money to make him
stay there, and of course he stayed, who wouldn't.

Schneider is sitting there watching, quite able to take over any starting goaltending position, so now
is the time to give him at least half the games, or just give them turns until one of them flounders,
they play the other one for a while. I'm wondering if vineault/gillis will begin to change their strategy
concerning luongo now, as when playoffs come around, it could make a big difference.

Canucks training camp opens this morning, here we go everyone.

I listened to a great interview this morning on team 1040. The fellow was talking about Luongo, and suggested that the canucks fans, this season, should take a big part in his success by getting behind
him much more with good support.

He thinks, (and he is right) that luongo is a person who is brilliant, but of course like any goalie or
player has rough times, 'and he is sensitive to criticism', its just the way he is, just like the way one
can compare their group of friends or co workers, some are thick skinned, some are sensitive, and some
don't care about anything.

So, his point was, that if the fans show support for him openly, all year, he will play better, and won't
struggle so much.
(but I have to remind everyone that luongo had a very good season last year, till playoffs)

He also stated, (and I have said this too), that money has nothing to do with character and personality,
as that is who one is, with no money or lots of money)

Maybe it will be easier this season, as he only makes 5. whatever, and not 7 mil. lol
The 7 mil season is over, won't be back.

Just thought I would start the season off with this post, just something to think about. The fans play
a big part in the success of a team, (at the games), and (phoning in), and the constant whining and
complaining about luongo does get tiring and boring to hear all the time, maybe we can toughen up a
bit, and be more supportive, and surprise him, as he must just shake his head sometimes, and wonder
how people can be that critical, as soon as he stumbles.

I don't hear anyone talk about his great season, and how he was one of three nominated for vezna award.

Whadyathink!!!!!!!!!!!!

i'm answering my own post, (from a few weeks ago),because now that we have seen 'his' first game, which was poor, I am no different
than everyone else, I feel very dissapointed, as I wanted to see him play well, so that the fans could and
would get behind him with more support, but he caused the loss last night, and that is hard to take.

yes, the fans do play a big part, but they are just human, and they want to see him succeed too, but the
inconsistency from the playoffs, and now with a poor start, it is hard to do.
He looked really bad last night, two very very easy stops is all he had to make, and the game would have
belonged to the canucks.

And, no shootout to make him look even worse.

Now he will have to be stellar over the next few games to make us forget last night.

While the team looked pretty good in the regular play, they kind of embarrassed themselves in the shoot out. Samualson
just shot the puck directly into the goalies pads, The Canucks second shooter missed as well. I didn't matter after that
because the other team already had the winning goal.

If Schneider is stellar for a few games, Luongo might be in some trouble

Hey Talloola- Have you talked to Gary today? He needs a lesson in Geography. He's got Winnipeg in the South East (idiot), Winnipeg should be in the Central and St. Louis should be switched over to the South East.

I believe winnipeg is staying in the south east division, as though they were still atlanta, just for this
year, as it was too late to change schedule when they were sold to winnipeg.

Next year they will probably be in the northwest division, as they were before they left winnipeg.

OK, I'll allow it for now. Tell Gary I'm keeping an eye on him.
