They say that right up to the point where it is one of their family members or friends that are caught-up in that destructive cycle.

This is the problem with taking a purely academic approach to solving this problem; these yahoos have no understanding that they are experimenting with real people, real lives and real futures.

Imagine if AA was hosted in a Pub. Man, there would be a meeting.

Hell, you could probably get some federal funding.

Maybe we ought to contact the Insite folks and get them to incorporate that into their regime. They could operate a tavern for those suffering from alcohol addiction and maybe a back room for off-track betting for those with gambling issues.

There is no comparison to AA. AA is about staying off booze. This is about staying off AIDS.

What I would really like to see, is for the Gov't to bite the bullet and establish a secure facility on 50 acres of Crown land, somewhere far away from any bad influences, establish a saw mill or factory, or farm where they could at least be returned to some degree of health, get some experience actually working. Consuming street drugs is illegal, so no problem arresting them and charging them, so physically getting them is not a problem. It would pay for itself just in the reduction of crime.

No, this is about addiction.

Addiction is addiction.

I completely agree and I would support such a venture with my tax dollars, but that would be stomping on their rights to commit crimes and buy illegal drugs. Better just to sit on our hands and hope they dont OD or get aids.

What it means is that its a ridiculous notion and the Feds have enough issues with tobbaco killing people which I have heard endless complaints about, but you guys want to get in the business of making and distributing drugs. You want to open them up to legal issues when Mary Sue Smith gets hooked on Canada Grade A Heroin or Meth or maybe some good old Crack Cocaine..

I never said I want the government making anything...I asked you a question, which you didn't answer yet.

Someone is smoking something...not me though!

What is getting it right supposed to even mean? Right now the people getting it right are violent thugs who don't care where the bullets from their guns end up...

You think that by getting into the business of killing people with chemicals is going to quell that violence?

The question you asked was in response to what I asked of Lone Wolf when he said the drugs should be supplied through our health care system. He also drew a conclusion that this would end all our woes and then you chimed. Were you simply playing devils advocate?

You said that considering the government couldn't get medical marijuana right...I want to know what you think getting it right means? For controlled and illegal substances there are two models...the government model, and the black market model.

I have no idea what you mean by getting something right in this case, which is why I asked for clarification given the alternative to government run operations and distribution.

Bumbling government operations don't shoot bullets through innocent bystanders homes.

Hold-off for a few hours and wander a little farther down to 'The Only'. Best Fish and Chips on the West coast.... Ya even get to enjoy the circa 1950's decor (original furnishings I might add).

I'm not new to this city. I know the one. I want something greasier with a $2.99 breakfast.

No doubt... I'm just offering a friendly reminder.

As per the $2.99 breaky... It's been a while since I've visited this place, but down on West 4th, just west of Burrard is a greasy spoon that offered up pretty much what you're looking for. We used to hit this place on Sat morning after a big night. 2 eggs (any style), hash browns, bacon or sausage, toast and coffee for around 4 bucks.

Bon on Commercial is $3. Real pan fried spuds, a big heap. I had my fave from here twice this week: Tomahawk Restaurant - Traditional Breakfast | Omelettes | Cereals I had the "mixed grill'. it's not breaky for amateurs.

MIXED GRILL
Nine generous slices of Yukon style bacon, two country fresh eggs, fried or scrambled, two slices of Klondike toast, ORGANIC hamburger patty, aged cheddar cheese, wiener, onions and fresh sautéed mushrooms.

Sounds to me like they are more than just a "shooting gallery". Of course, this organization is all about saving people, that's the problem with the naysayers right there. They would rather have their tax dollars going to increased "defense" (there's a misnomer if there ever was one) spending.
