There is another thread regarding this topic. Perhaps the mods could merge the two.

Mr. Martin talks a good game, but his government served over a decade and did little to advance this issue. The great thing about opposition politics, even when you are no longer the leader is that you can run your mouth all you want and promise the moon, but you don't have to deliver.

Perhaps this problem has surpassed the problem of the national debt which was rampant under Mulroney and Chretien.

Yes it was. but I put little stock in a man who became Prime Minister, but moved his billion dollar shipping Industry to the Carribean to avoid paying Canadian Taxes.

I will add this though, it is all owed to them for as long as "the sun shines and the rivers flow".

This statement requires that the issue of "what is owed" to be defined in order for it to have any force.

I was told it was perfectly legal to avoid paying taxes as long as you don't evade paying taxes.

Martin F'd all of the Provinces, Chretien never got rid of the GST, yet denied he ever said he would.

They killed the baby bonus, killed Canadian soldiers with their military cuts, sold what was left our soul to China, but hey.. Far be it for me to forget what Heroes they were for not cutting the money they already were paying out to the aboriginals. Which by the way was not solving the problem anyway.

Premiers were roasted on spits for the tough decisions they had to make after Martin cut the transfer payments and somehow he came out smelling like a rose. Heck he wasn't even touiched by the the scandal in Quebec which is a complete joke considering he was the Finance Minister revered by followers as a man who knew what was going on.

I just find it funny how some will tear apart the pronvincial governments when Ottawa left them high and dry, but hail Martin as Finance Minister Hero.

He either knew about Adscam which made him complicit or he didn't which made him inept.

We still have aprox the same amount of debt. Sending Soldiers to die so he can look good is a crime. Some would call it murder or death by negligence.
