(SACRAMENTO, CA) – A prominent Democratic campaign treasurer who works for federal, state and Orange County, California lawmakers including U.S. Sen. Dianne Feinstein. Rep. Loretta Sanchez and others has been arrested by the FBI on suspicion of mail fraud, according to a story in the Orange County Register.

The paper says U.S. Attorney's Office spokesman Thom Mrozek confirmed Saturday afternoon that Kinde Durkee of Burbank, California based Durkee and Associates, was arrested by the FBI on a criminal complaint filed by the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Sacramento.

An FBI spokesman said she was arrested in connection with her position as a campaign treasurer, according to the report.

Durkee is expected to make her initial court appearance Tuesday afternoon, most likely in Santa Ana, California.

A California state Senator, Lou Correa, told the Register he was called by the FBI late Friday night and told that Durkee had been arrested and that he is a likely victim along with “many, many other victims.” The Santa Ana Democrat said he believes he has lost “hundreds of thousands of dollars” in campaign funds, said the report.

Talk about getting caught with your hands in the proverbial cookie jar! I guess the temptation was just too much for her to handle. Hopefully a nice jail sentence will help her out.:)

It's true. Money can be the root of evil for many people.

For her? The coooookies(ie, money) was too much....


....and it ended up becoming her downfall in the end.

Absolutely! Any temptation, or maybe it's the thrill of it.

I worked many years in a retail environment. The number of people I've seen carted off in handcuffs who's basic attire would have cost me half a weeks wages, not to mention the managers who throw away a 60K salary for a $300 tv. It's just bizarre.

Greed...it's brought down nations so it is easy to see how it can bring down individual people. Some people just don't have the willpower, and would rather take the shortest route to "easy money". They act in the moment(swiping a $300 tv) rather than think about the future(criminal record, no job, loss of respect).

WEll considering that she handles money and associates with a group of people(politicians) that lie, cheat and steal for a living it is to be expected.

Perhaps the headline should have read Criminal defrauded Democratic Party Victims.
True it was a campaign worker in the party but then again she got close to them by
being a party member. Mentioning the Democratic Party first leads some to believe
the party did something wrong when there is no evidence of that.
I am not in either party as a Canadian I just question why the article started out that way
and not proclaiming party leaders were victims rather being part of something. Today's
media is not as clear as it might be, that's my opinion anyway.

Shot in the dark...because they think it will sell more papers. Sounds more sinister.
