There was more to his original statement than a misinterpreted remark. It was clearly a poke at Thomas.

Luongo's a major competitor and in my view it was calculated. He has no chance of winning the Conn Smythe without contributing more than simply stopping more pucks. Between the two, the math will always favor Thomas. But if a statement like that gets into Thomas's head and brings him down, and is backed up by a strong cup winning performance, then it gives the voters and historians more fat to chew on. If the Canucks are, say, a 63% favorite to win one of the last two games he's going all-in with his cards in search of becoming someone who will be talked about for a very long time.

you should complete his original statement, because I was trying to remember what I heard, and that was it,
maybe I missed some of it.

I want to know the poke at thomas.

NOPE: I just listened to the complete interview with luongo, and he said almost exactly what I explained.
It is just a fact that a goalie who comes way out of the blue paint will leave himself more vulnerable
to shots coming in from behind him, and that is what luongo said, not a poke to thomas, but to the
complete difference in their styles, and the comment from thomas was just a 'vanilla' one, he said
he just wanted to concentrate on what they have to do, and a new reply from luongo today, from
luongo was very good.
He said he is one game away from a possible win for the stanley cup, and he just wants to concentrate
on that, and that he doesn't really care what else is going on.

good for him, the only thing he didn't do, that I would have done is 'give' the media the finger,
maybe he will do that after the playoffs are over. lol

scumbags.

The media seem to enjoy knocking people down. That way, they (the reporters) don't seem so small in the grand scheme of things.

I assume that Luongo made those comments in response to the comments Thomas made about Luongo after Game #5.

I didn't see them , what were they?

*darned messed up colouring...not sure why it's doing it!*

Basically, Thomas said that they didn't work Luongo very hard and that he didn't really make any great saves. I am paraphrasing a little, but that is the gist of it. I believe the exact words can be found in one of the recent articles over at tsn.ca. It might also be in one of their recent videos as well.

---seems you have to change the colour back to black for every paragraph. What a strange glitch!

YouTube - ‪Roberto Luongo critiques Tim Thomas After Game 5‬‏

Not hard for him? LOL, come on, he probably has a record for shots in a playoff let in when they come from behind the net. His delivery of the comments is a poke at Thomas.

In the end who cares, they both go out and play goal and either stop the puck or don't. Quotes don't stop or let in pucks.

yeah, thats right, who cares, it's just how one percieves the comments, guess it comes off different
to different people.

I play the game more south than you, so I am further from the ocean, stop pucks better, as you are
so close to the ocean, you can't back up or you'll be right in the blue water, shots go over your head. lol

(I have no idea what any of that means, but it was fun) lol

Speaking of which-we are seeing much less of that kind of thing from both teams this series-for whatever reason.

many players are finding a level of play they didn't realize they had.

I think canucks should be practicing many different types of plays where they force thomas out
and back very quickly, and back and forth behind the net with the puck, and set up situations
where he has to worry more about pucks coming from the side, those shots are fewer, his whole
game is set up to rush out, be agressive, meet players coming at him, make contact, and now he
needs to know that when he does that he is making life easy for canucks shooters, who are buzzing
back and forth behind the net and to the corners and back, but still have a shooter lurking right
in the slot area for a quick pass out front, or to the point.

i hope the canucks go with the back up goalie.8O

It's more than likely Timmy Boy who will need the back up after our boys spend 50 minutes at his end of the arena and pepper him with 50 shots (besides the several that get past him) I can smell the cup - them tea drinking Grannies can only stand up so long.

Not a chance after Lu's performance in the 5th game. He's our man all the way.

I am trying very hard to be calm and collected about tonight's game but the closer we get to puck drop, the more my tummy starts fluttering. I hope the refs let the teams decide the outcome of this game.

GO, CANUCKS, GO!

puck drops at about 5:15 pacific, so it is 8:15 eastern.

You just watch! (Was I ever wrong?)

I am blank - lol, but i'm counting on your sureness of thought, i'll get back
to you later. lol

I hate this waiting, can't concentrate on anything much, put spaghetti on to cook,
and i'm watching the clock, very apprehensive today, and I will be so glad when
this is all over, I need to get on with my life, and I don't like being this jittery,
not my nature, maybe I should start drinking. lol (then I would probably sleep thru
the game)
