Maybe he was momentarily stunned to see that Thomas had left him a chance at goal - just long enough to make all the difference. But I know what you mean. There were a couple of things that I caught which gave me pause. They lost their focus at times, like when two of them, can't remember who now, ran into each other and one got knocked down - I mean taking out your own player? They have to be more aware of where each of them are at all times - I think it gives them more chances for great passes.

Something like 2,000 of the over, 100,000 fans received drinking violations after last night's game. That is less than what 1 in 10,000? I am not good at math. Whatever, that's a relatively small number of drunks considering the vast majority of last night's celebrants were sober, well-behaved and just had themselves a darn good time - but they could have been a tad 'greener' about the litter they left behind.

Also, among all those cheering crowds are a number of fans from south of the border who are die-hard NHL fans and Canucks supporters. They are hoping to get an NHL team of their own. Apparently, the big hold-up is a proper arena for a team.

GO, CANUCKS, GO!

2%- roughly the ratio of confirmed A$$holes in society.

You called me PC. Is that not an insult? Or is being politically correct a good thing now?

It's good for people with a room temperature I.Q. who don't mind being pretentious, but I have a problem with it because you can't call a Spade a Spade.

I had to read your later post to realize what exactly you meant. You don't feel the connection to the players because they're non-Vancouverites hired to play. .... It's a strange way of looking at it I suppose. I was foolishly inferring that you were trying to put emphasis on where the players were from, namely outside of Vancouver. And further inferring that our fans can't identify as "canucks" because their came from elsewhere than Canada. It was sounding like political correctness to me so I'm glad I had a chance to read your other post.

And I don't think PC is an insulting label, certainly not on the same level as calling someone an "idiot". Some people are political correct and proudly say so. Some people are labeled "far right" and admit so.

When I went to school we were taught that the shortest way to say something is often the, but I've noticed with this politically correct B.S. that one word is often replaced with two or three or short words are replaced with long ones!

I am truly disgusted and fed up with the media and fans concerning luongo. You know, if canucks
win the cup, (or even if they don't), I wouldn't blame him a bit if he asked to be traded, so
he can get out of this town and have some peace and normalcy.

There has been a few questions from journalists in the past few days that are ridiculous and
inconsiderate, and I feel truly embarrassed that after bringing him here some years ago, we
have to treat him in a way that is truly 'tacky' and 'rude'.
Luongo has played his guts out for a long time, and this year he played the best ever, but he
is still treated like a second rate citizen.

Why do the media/journalists/many fans, get satisfaction out of belitteling him, running him down,
and being downright rude and impolite.

I hope he leaves vancouver and leaves the media/fans/journalists with their mouths gaping open,
then you know what ---they will continue criticizing him and won't seem to understand why he left.

UGHHHHH

There, I just had to rant, but I still don't feel any better.

me too, but you know, he is just a person, like you and I, with feelings, its just not fair.

I'm sure glad he's got all of the team behind him, they love him, and gillis, but outisde of that,
he has to have thick thick skin. I truly despise the media, they are very low life.

Talloola, I think it's time for fans and media to let a lot of stuff go, including the Sedin production issues (and everyone's production issues). There is no way to compare what is happening right now to any part of the season. I'm a firm believer that number one lines bring everyone to the cup but 2nd, 3rd and 4th lines win or lose it. The style of game is so different at this stage it's just a matter of survival, and 3rd lines are best equipped to carry the mail. The Stanley Cup has a long history of it.

And if a team loses a game or two at this stage that is just the way it goes. Someone has to. The players that are left participating have nothing left to prove. They just need a few breaks.

it definitely is different in the the finals, there is so much emphasis on defense, and how to stop the
stars from doing anything, that is pretty much what they do, as defense can be taught and strategized
by coaching and executed by players, that offensive stars are brought almost to a standstill, and have
to just become a part of the team, just one of the players.

the lunch bucket players become the strength along with the stars and goalies etc.

yes it is a war of survival, and if canucks can win in boston, it will be huge, because it will break
the streak of home team victories, and make the win so special.

YES, that presidents' cup victory is becoming bigger and bigger, the longer it goes.
GO CANUCKS GO

I'd love to be in the dressing room prior to the start of the game. How often can a coach say, "go out and win the cup."

yes, and speaking of the coach, 'coach V ' has been so controlled, so even keeled, so 'in the moment',
he has kept that group of guys calm, focused, steady, moving foward, deaing with 'one game at a time', and
i'm sure he is sick of saying that, but knows it is the right thing to do,

and if they can pull this thing off, I will be watching 'him' first, he is the glue that is holding
all of this together.

He sure has been. He's a class act. Same with Julien. Two very likable coaches.

What's up with the Luongo commenting on Thomas situation? Did Luongo just blurt out something that didn't fall within the "think before saying" category? Was it an intentional remark to try and get Thomas off his game? Is Lu trying to take the scrutiny off his teammates? Is this the equivalent of poker's "all in"?

I hear you, talloola, the general media are over the top dumping on the Canucks and it is stupid and demeaning but then look at the source.

A goalie is somewhat akin to a QB and when a team wins or loses, they are the ones that get the majority of criticism - we both know that it takes an entire team to win or lose even though addled headed sports commentators tend to forget that fact. Just wait till the Lions start playing and we start hearing all the comments about Travis.

Lu is our guy, win or lose.

I was reading an article about the Canucks and Vancouver fans in yesterday's NP. The jist of it was that the ROC is simply jealous because Vancouver has been having way too much fun lately, what with the Olympics and all the attention they got and now with the Canucks being in the Stanley Cup. It was kind of neat actually.

You know, I don't care what people in the ROC think or have to say about our team anymore. They are our guys. They have made us proud and let us down and kept on going. We are with them all the way and in the end the sun will still rise and we can go on to cheering for our favorite football teams.

There is another reason for the canucks to win tomorrow, the lions have an exhibition game on Wed.
so we must keep that day free. lol

they asked luongo if he could have saved that goal the other night, if it had been at his net. He said
that because he plays further back in the blue paint, he probably would have, and that he and thomas
have such different styles, he will make some saves that thomas doesn't, and thomas will make some that 'he'
doesn't.

And because of more comments from the media, luongo said, (something to the effect) that "I have
kicked his tires lots in the past, haven't heard anything good about me". And, he had that silly
look on his face, it's just a funny remark, with a bit of sarcasm added to it, for the media's sake.
.
The media took that to boston, fiddled with it a bit, and it came out as a criticizm of thomas.

And, the other day they looked right into his eyes and said "Did you know the fans in rogers arena
cheered when you were taken out of the game, he said "Next question"?.
Maybe I allready said that in another post, can't remember.

They are playing Calgary. Have been listening to several interviews with the team at their training camp in Kamloops. Wish I could get Riders radio here..........sigh. :-(

that idiot 'mike millbury', called the sedins 'thelma and louse' in an interview the other day, and
of course the media then asked one of the sedins about it, and he said that, just look at the
behavior of 'him' years ago, and also, we say those kinds of things 'as children' but let them
go later on.

If you haven't seen the replay of millbury climbing up into the stands, and beating a fan over
the head with one of 'his' own shoes, then you must find it, and watch it, just to take a look
at 'only' one of millbury's stupid moves over the years.

Cory Schneider was asked about millbury's remarks, and he said that he has been such a bad general
manager, that he probably would have traded the sedins away from his team, then they both just
smiled about him, a classless man.
