Do you even know what a Donnybrook is?

I'm sure that you meant 'kafuffle', and it's completely ridiculous for you to confuse the two. Why don't you go look up, in a Canadian dictionary, the meaning of KAFUFFLE and DONNYBROOK.

lol

Yep, I looked it up and just as I thought, a brawl named after a place in Ireland- (I bet I knew that before you did ) Sometimes I use hyperbole in an attempt for a little humour.

Tenpenny's point stands... it is not a Canadian reference, thus should be stricken from the conversation, and you sir, branded an idiot. ;)

She discussed someone applying for pardon 3 years after release, and has subsequently been called down and told she meant parole... like anyone can apply for parole AFTER they're released. Did it warrant that behaviour? Hell no. Is someone hell bent on bringing it? Apparently. :)

I hear you - for some people being right is more important than learning something. (The ironic part is the more you learn the more often you are right)

*shrugs* It's right up there with certain other issues in my mind, that I try to be happy for people that they DON'T have the knowledge on. I'd rather I didn't know what pardons mean in the legal sense in Canada, I'd rather I hadn't had to research the issue. I'd rather not have a family member with a felony on their record. Sometimes ignorance truly is bliss, because it means you haven't come across the particular set of circumstances.

I have no doubt you've known what a Donnybrook is longer than I have, I've only known since 1973.

Ha!!

I fart in your general direction! I wave my naughty bits at your auntie!
Now go away, sir, before I taunt you a second time!

Yep, got you beat, I worked with a guy in the late 60s that used the term.

Don't sweat it Karrie, everyone has a "cross to bear" and the more crosses, the stronger the person and generally the more tolerant and understanding the person.

Nope, but it's funny to watch how many times you've tried to declare yourself right while insulting other posters.

Pardon and parole are not the same thing, and she was very clearly talking about pardons when she was talking about pardons. Plain and simple.

OK, karrie, go ahead and explain the difference. Don't forget to be specific in explaining/describing how I was wrong. Also, while you are at it tell us how I insulted anyone by being right.

Recruit to be your allies all the similarly affected ones who don't know the difference between PAROLE and PARDON.

I'm not repeating myself for the hard of hearing. Go back and read the explanations and links, as well as your own rudeness.

If you gave me a VALID response, you would not be repeating yourself because you never gave me a VALID opinion on this topic, to begin with. And as far as offensive is concerned, look at Unforgiven's remarks about my parents in post #74.

Anyways, I am stopping right here, right now.

Post 19, paragraph 3. Explain how you think she meant parole and not pardon. It's been a simple question asked of you time and time again, and you refuse to answer it. So don't act all sanctimonious on me.

In your post #19.

Pardon is when one gets a free pass from previous wrongdoings. Parole is when an offender is given a second chance, but is NOT absolved of any previous wrongdoing.

Actually Y.J. I think you got it pretty close, but that's where you should have left it.

You're not going to get an answer Karrie because YJ knows he's in the wrong and fears he will be reduced in some way admitting that in front of women. He was wrong, we all know it and that he continues to evade at this point by using JLM as a sounding board, the gullible fool, in an attempt to still manage a weasel maneuver and get out of the trap he put himself in.

You're a sad little man Hungry Jack and one can only imagine just how marginalized you must be at home to feel the need to go to this extent.

karrie, come on! Surely you know the difference between parole and pardon.

What your post, above, claims is that just because somebody is expert on how to cook spaghetti he/she is also an expert on how to eat it without getting indigestion.

Or something like that. Pardon is not parole. Parole is nor pardon. not even close.

You are truly a "thick" person, YJ. And a troll. And I mean that in the worse possible way.

He was wrong in that he was rude and made the wrong assumption about what the other poster knew, but he was pretty much correct about the meanings of parole and pardon. You guys should give him credit for that much.

He also has nice spelling. So he has that going for him. The issue isn't whether YJ knows what the definitions of the two words are, it's that he felt he needed to flip out over his own mistake and when shown his error, he tried to do everything not to correct himself to the point of belittling people in here in an attempt to distract from his own blunder.

He does it all over the board and you shouldn't coddle him when he does it. It only enables further poor behaviour.

IF you've been reading my posts you will know I don't coddle him- I give him sh*t as much as anyone, but try to keep it in a friendly or humourous tone, not jumping on him with both feet. I also try to give credit when he (or anyone else) is correct. Just because a person is wrong doesn't make him a pariah. He has a lot of weird ideas but they're his ideas and he has a perfect right to them. When he's rude and obnoxious, he deserves what he gets, when he's merely wrong, then it's probably better just to gently show him another point of view. :smile:As far as spelling goes, English is his second language and to be quite frank I think his spelling is better than many on here who's first language is English.
