Politically she's a nonentity within parliament, personally she's objectionable and off putting.

The Greens have been around at least 25 years and this is the best they can do?
The two big parties have been around almost 150 years.

Well, you don't pay me and I don't work for you, so I can do as I please.

This is not the case with May, I pay her (my tx $) and I expect her to behave herself within the rules and standard I set out for her and to do her proposed job within.
She accepted my terms when she decided to run for office.

I, I, I, me, me me. Fortunately, your ego has no bearing as to how she performs her duties.

They have an incomplete platform, in my opinion.

I think many Canadians accept their environmental concerns at face value, so they won't really question them. However, they need to put more emphasis on their economic and social platform.

Elizabeth May: Blue skies smiling at me - The Globe and Mail

"Ms. May heads a political party of one. A party, we should add, that received 4 per cent of the popular vote – down from the last election. Ms. May blames this on the fact she wasn’t included in the debates. More likely, it was due to the fact that her party’s energies were concentrated almost exclusively in her riding at the expense of the rest of the country."

"Only when women have control of the front benches of Canada’s political parties will the childishness and petty name-calling begin to subside. For her part, Ms. May has said she won’t stand to talk if anyone’s heckling. We’ll see how well that works." (Yet another person who mistakenly believes that women are more civil than men - what a load of poo-poo!)

"But that’ll be for Ms. May to worry about another day. For now, she’s just looking forward to her first day in the House. “They won’t be able to shut me down or shut me out,” she says. If she ever gets a chance to speak, that is."

Elizabeth May knows nothing about the actual physical environment nor how it functions so her and the greens saving anything is sooooo funny it makes me scream. She's a CO2 nut who is corporate green slime right down to the soles of her shoes.

How can you be corporate slime and fight successfully against the use of Agent Orange? Monsanto and Dow are huge corporations...

I'm happy for her really. Lol, I literally just finished posting this in another thread, but failing to win her seat, what 3 thimes in a row (or was it 2), she was fast becoming an underdog and I seem to always be taking up the cause of the underdog. :)

Truthfully a green position is not a bad thing. Like a conscience to remind us that there are things in this nation of value beyond economics and taxes.

Resources ARE part of the economy. They are not mutually exclusive.

Oh for crying out loud. The green party platform is indeed economically conservative, but not nearly as far right as you protray (red tory let's say). In fact, it's quite progressive in many ways too.

Oh, big deal ! Get a grip!!
It's a pretty big deal for her. She might only have one vote, but that's more than you have.

No election is perfect.
Election perfectness is a matter of opinion. And since you don't need 50% of the vote in this country to form a majority government, most people will not be happy with it.

I haven't payed the green party any attention. I don't have the slightest idea what they are about. I may in fact be in total disagreement with their views.

with that said, I am happy that they finally have a seat in parliment.

Why are you happy that she is in parliament?
Do you think that we as taxpayers should be funding and putting in parliament all fringe groups?

Once I had a neighbour, who was so jaded about politics, that he declared that he would only vote for someone who has ABSOLUTELY NO CHANCE of winning.

I guess there were a lot of jaded people in Elizabeth May's riding.

Durry, I "think" (& I could be wrong here...) that funding starts at 12 seats, so beyond
her wage & bennifits & eventually her pension, the Green Party isn't getting much.

She, being elected by her constituents, is in parliment for that reason and that reason
alone. If other "fringe groups" have an MP elected to parliment, then that MP would also
have the right to sit in parliment. Maybe I'm not understanding your statement or something.

No, you understand me perfectly.
But your point is well taken, I think we as Canadians have a responsiblity to decide if having a bunch of fringe groups in Parliament is the right way to build a good strong country.
Or is the best way to build a strong country is by having a strong leader with a clear vision that we all agree with. And then if he doesn't deliver, WE, the taxpayers turfs him out.

I am not in favour of a bunch of separate groups in Parliament doing more or less nothing, but I'm still paying them.

I dont see the connection.

As I understand it,we didn't fund her or put her into parliment. She went out and got funding, then won enough votes to get elected.
