The Habs won at 3 - 1. Both Canadian teams are up 2 games to zip on their oponents.

I was up in your area today Talloola. Jan and I drove to Comox to watch the Snowbirds. The show started about 9:30
but the weather at that time was ugly. The Snowbirds put on the best show they could with the weather they had. I was
just about frozen by the time the Snowbirds were finished but they did the best they could and it was good to see them.

They have been here about 2 weeks now, we've seen them many times when we have our lunch out at the
ocean. Guess they're ready to move on now.

I'm watching the san jose/los angeles game, 4 1/2 minutes to go, and l.a. have been all over
san jose all night, score ended at 4-0, san jose look awful, half asleep, they are reminding me of how they played
in playoffs last couple of years, but I don't think that will continue, especially after their
coach smacks them all about the head and shoulders, (my grandmother's saying, tiny little lady,4ft 10in.,
born in london england, and as tough as nails). lol

montreal are up 2 games to zip over boston
l.a. and san jose will be split
buffalo and philly are split
detroit up on phoenix 2-0

Chicago is now officially sucking hind teat.

Yep, I had a few nervous moments during that one, with the number of penalties I'd say they stole on there- they can't be doing that when they start playing the tough teams, on the other hand they were good enough to dig themselves back out of the hole. Just 13 more wins left.

I wonder if torres will get another suspension, oh well, it doesn't matter, I liked the team better
when hodgson was playing, as that line with him in the middle of hansen and raymond was so nice.

The hit he made on seabrook was similar to the one he was initially suspended for.

Luongo played great.

I expected chicago to play better this game and they did, but their lack of depth still shows,
and in the end that is what did them in.

Canucks still have to bear down next game and play better, cut out the penalties, and also
realize that it is the 11th hour for chicago, so nothing will be left out of their game, but
that can also hurt them by taking chances for goals, and leaving the defense lacking, we'll see.
They have to beat canucks 4 straight to win this series, won't be done.

Must disagree-we need more grit a la Torres already too many players like Hodgson.

The hit he made on seabrook was similar to the one he was initially suspended for.
Not quite as hard and not Torres' finest moment but I do like how he hit Seabrook almost as hard a few minutes later and reduced his effectiveness even more.

Luongo played great.
Indeed!

Playing smart is always a challenge for hockey players-any hockey players but I think it can be done-AV comes across as a pretty cool coach and I think that helps.

Chicago is now officially sucking hind teat.
And for years to come.

But the first two games, even without torres, the canucks did more hitting than I had seen them do for
a long time, and I thought the physical part of the game was way up there.

But I do see that the opposition will always know when torres is on the ice and be aware, and that
is also a good thing, but I still think canucks are deep enough to be just fine if he is out again
for a couple.

Yes that second hit was a doozer too, much more legal, and definitely made a mark.

As this playoff goes along, I can see your point much more, as chicago isn't one of the toughest, (physical)
teams on the block, they get tougher.

Torres should have been warming the bench for the rest of the game. He was given a warning penalty early in the game, but he proved that he can't learn from his mistakes. He's like a juvenile delinquent, he'll keep on this path until he ends someone's career.

Don't know why Vancouver's coaching staff let him back on the ice, he's a liability. He cost them a goal, with his undisciplined behaviour.

But obviously that sort of thing plays well with some fans.

That was my feeling at the time of the incident, but I don't actually watch enough hockey to be able to make a definite statement on him. I think in the regular season he may have scored game winning goals. What say you Talloola?

It's painfully apparent you know very little about hockey-FYI it was a legal hit.

Why would he get a penalty for a legal hit?

I played hockey for seventeen or eighteen years. The worst hits are those blind sided hits that
you don't see coming. Most are legal hits but a deliberate attempt to take a player out of the game
should not be acceptable. Would Vancouver fans be happy if one of the Sedins were taken out
of the play-offs with a blind sided hit?

I do so agree, tallola. I could not believe how great the Cannucks were on defense without taking stupid, needless and costly penalties. Then this guy, Torres comes along and makes the illegal hit on Seabrook - to me it just lowered the quality of the Cannucks game. They didn't need him for the first two and if he keeps this nonsense, he should warm the bench for the rest of the series. He did cost them a goal - the creep. Watching the hit I was reminded of Matt Cooke coming off a suspension only to get another. Some guys are just too brain damaged to get the message. I hope Torres does get at least a two game suspension - then the Cannucks are free to win their 4th against the Hawks without the negative influence that he brings to the game.

But I do see that the opposition will always know when torres is on the ice and be aware, and that is also a good thing, but I still think canucks are deep enough to be just fine if he is out again for a couple.

The Cannucks have already proved they have the depth they need without this guy, tallola. IMHO.

Good, clean hits are great and we saw the Cannucks make a lot of those in all the games so far - without the need for a Torres type of person - sorry tallola but I really dislike players that are there soley to harm another player and that is what this guy is to me. IMHO.

GO, CANNUCKS, GO! Show Chicago that you can take them cleanly because you have the skills and class to do so.

I'm in a bit of a quandary about that particular episode, although I watched game, I couldn't say whether it was a legal hit or not, but it was a GOOD one. While you are serving a penalty for injuring a player I've always been under the impression that the "injured" player couldn't be on the ice for the duration of the penalty.!! Help me out here Talloola.

There has been a lot of talk on Sports Center today about Torres blindside hit and the consensus is that he should have been given a major and a suspension thus I will bow to those who know more about the game then I do. I do wonder why Seabrook wasn't immediatley taken to the locker room and checked over - it took the following hit by Torres before Seabrook finally went to the bench and then left for the dressing room. I do agree that Seabrook should have been more aware of his vulnerabiltiy but Torres didn't just hit him, he launched himself at Seabrook and targeted his head.

So it's safe to draw the conclusion that Torres is a goon. I had a picture in my mind of him being a bull fighter.

Probably because, like most guys in the NHL today, they've grown up with the 'suck it up' mentality, and don't dare to admit they don't feel right, because some morons will think they're wimps. So he stuck it out, but then had to give in to reality.

If you watched the game, Torres was given a penalty very near the start of the game, for a check that hardly even connected - it was a warning to him, by the ref, to smarten up and settle down. A warning that he didn't pay any attention to.

LOL!

Yeah, he was starting to piss me off there- far too many Canuck penalties in that game.

I kept wondering if I was watching the same team from the previous two games as they took penalty after penalty, then they had the first intermission and things really started to change. Maybe it was just nerves in the first period, but I sure am glad that the team got their discipline back and started to concentrate on what is important - winning the game - which they did in fine fashion.
