Thank god they did wake up. They can't be doing this in the playoffs though or we might be in some trouble

:lol::lol:

I believe you are right. thats the Jennings and the Art Ross. should have a shot at the Hart, the Vezina, and maybe the Jack Adams (coach)

Yeah, that was cool, but I still don't get why Burrows got a penalty there.

The officiating was horrible again tonight. That spear was worth 5 and then 2 Calgary players were reaching over the boards at Lapierre and should have got misconducts, that is a big no-no and I can't believe the refs let it go. We had an incident like that in my league this year and the guy got 2/10 & a game misconduct as well as 3 games from the league.
_________________________________________________________________________________
I think burrows got the penalty for putting his arms up to defend himself. lol
It doesn't take much for the officials to give him a penalty, but it takes almost
manslaughter for him to draw a penalty.

I don't even flinch any more at anything the officials do or don't do, the NHL have to address
the inability of their officials to spontaniously recognize a penalty or no penalty, the game
is too fast for them, and they are making fools of themselves out there, I don't even bother to
get upset any longer, we just look at each other and raise the eyebrows, and say, just another
call blown.

I just hope the playoffs come off smoothly, and officials aren't the cause of 'outcomes' of games.

I've been thinking about the Jack Adams, and I think bilsma for pittsburg certainly
should get a look, he coached that team without staal for a while, then without malkin
once, and then again for the rest of the season, then we all know what happened
to crosby, and that team has done very well, and could contend in the playoffs.
(although they're lucky they weren't in the western conference, don't think they
would have done as well).

Vineault has done a marvelous job this season, his personality and 'steady as
she goes approach,' is great, such focus, which has spread all over the team, and
they just don't panic at anything, he should have a chance too.

I was watching the sedins a lot tonight, and 'I' decided that 'they' decided they were
not going to get involved, just go about their business, (no contact), for the
60 minutes, get off the ice, and go home, to avoid any possibility of injury, but
the way the game went, didn't allow for that, they had to get involved, and I'm
glad they did.

Well, I guess any doubts anyone has about the Canucks should be put to sleep after tonights game. It's only a good team that come from behind 2 goals down and win the game. All they have to do now is win 16 games, should be piece of cake.

yeah right JLM, I feel like taking a nap just thinking about it. lol

Two entirely different situations, neither team had anything really to win or lose, except adding to the stats. If the Sedins were napping (resting up for the playoffs) all the power to them. Do the playoffs start on Wed.? Seems to me they usually do.

When they buckled down in the third the Canucks showed a glimpse of what they're capable of. When they get the 5-man unit going in the offensive zone it is a sight to behold.

canucks will play either wed. or thurs., I guess it depends who they end up playing, which we won't
know till chicago play, if they get one point, dallas is finished.

after my trashing of lapierre earlier, I thought he played a very good game tonight,
got very involved, and could have scored a couple of goals, (but why didn't he,) he
doesn't have any finish around the net at all, but maybe there is hope for him.

Don't get to see the Cannucks play much but watched the game last night. The first two periods - except for a brief burst late in the second period - had me wondering if they were just going to get through the game as best they could without any injuries. Then when they came alive in the 3rd period, I finally got to see why everyone is so excited about this team. They owned the 3rd period.

On another note, as I know a couple of people here really like him, I am glad that it was Iginla who got the first goal against them - 43rd of the season and tied him with Lannie MacDonald for most goals scored by a Flames player - if I heard the announcers correctly.

Go, Cannucks, Go.

The Stars look awful, I hope they win. To end ahead of Chicago they need to win in regulation or overtime (not shoot out).

Dallas is out. Time to kick some bird butt.

Dallas just looked awful today, minnesota were playing like the team who were trying to get into
the playoffs.

Chicago is in, but they had to leave it up to another team to determine their fate, as they
couldn't win the game that would have put them in 8 th place.

I like the chicago team better anyway, they are more interesting, play a more exciting brand of
hockey, even though they haven't had a stellar season.

I don't believe in any of this stuff that is going around, like canucks can finally get rid of
the demons that haunt them about chicago.

chicago is a much different team this year and so are the canucks, so this is a new season for
playoffs, with two teams facing each other that are not the same as last year or the year
before, I don't dwell on the past, and don't believe it means anything, that is just the media
and fans living in an emotional state, talking about demons etc, similar to the fans and media
whom always talk about canucks last 40 years, well who cares about the 40 years, this is now,
so lets go get em.

Did anyone else see the elbow that Abdelkader threw at Brent Seabrook in the game between chicago
and detroit yesterday?

Seabrook was almost out cold on his feet, and struggled to get to the bench.
There was a big arguement about it, complaints from chicago coach etc.
No penalty at all, and today there was no reveiw by the NHL and no suspension, unless something
is yet to come.

They say Toronto checks all of the infractions, (whether they are called or not), but I would ask
why would this be ignored, when torres was given a four game suspension for what they called a
blind side elbow to the head, (eberley said in an interview that he saw torres coming), and this
infraction be ignored.

Also the elbow that bertuzzi threw a couple of weeks ago, (another detroit player), was lethel, and
he only got a 2500.00 fine and no suspension.
I can't understand or figure out how they are making these decisions or indecisions.

Now, detroit would have been 2 men short if they had made the elbowing call on albedkader, and chicago
probably would have scored, teams usually score while 2 men advantage.

So, if Dallas had of won their game yesterday, then chicago would be out of the playoffs, and because
of that non call, officials most likely ripped chicago out of a goal, which would have tied up the
game, and all chicago needed was a tie in that game to knock dallas out, see how officiating can
become way too much a part of outcomes, it is disgusting.

It's just lucky for chicago that dallas lost, because they probably should have allready been in the
playoffs anyway, if officiating had been fair.

Iginla was a great player back in the day but it remains to be seen how he'll fit in with a team in it's rebuilding years.

iginla and tanguay play great together, and I'm sure they will keep them together next season,
and new teams need veteran players in the mix, and at this time there is no better veteran player
in the league than iginla, he is a great captain and leader, and definitely still has his passion
for the game, they need him now more than ever, young players can look up to him, learn from him
and be thankful he is there to score goals.
I think iginla would love to have some rookies playing on the team, would inspire
him to be even a better leader.

well here we go folks, playoffs start tonight. Haven't seen anything here for quite awhile, has
everyone seized up, maybe too nervous to chat?

It is a 'clean' slate now, all teams starting at the same place, not one team has any advantage
over another, and anything can happen.

penalties, power plays, early goals, soft goals, can all play a big part to gain momentum.

I pick san jose over los angeles
phoenix over detroit
vancouver over chicago
anaheim over nashville (I have changed this one several times, so it's a toss up for me)

Detroit do not have zetterburg, can make a big difference, thats why I chose phoenix

I don't think los angeles have a chance at all, and it could be a sweep.

I will be following all of the playoffs, not just canucks.

This will be fun, win or lose, can by some big surprises, (eg. montreal last year), so no one
knows.

Tallola, your guys rocked the ice during that first period - I mean WOW! Some of those defensive plays were outstanding! The Hawks looked discombobulated and without any real game plan except to chase the Cannucks around the ice. Beautiful goals by Higgins and Hanson. (hope I remembered the right guys)

Early round definitely goes to the Cannucks. Hope they can keep up this level of energy for the next two periods. Oh, and by the way, I get shivers when I hear the Cannuck fans sing our anthem and they do it soooooo well.

GO, CANNUCKS, GO!

Lu, Lu, Lu.... gotta give the guy kudos - some great saves so far to keep them ahead 2 - 0. Two periods down, one to go.........come on Cannucks. The Hawks picked up their game in the second but were still held back by the Cannucks..........way to go team.

yes they were definitely flying in the first period, and it is understandable that a team can't
play with that much energy for 60 minutes, but I liked how they adjusted as the game went on.
The defense were pinching lots till the last period, then they stayed back more, and played
solid solid defense, and didn't allow chicago to do much of anything.

canucks had 2 goal posts and chicago had 4, so those posts have to be given credit for their
good play tonight too. lol

luongo was brilliant.

edler was the rock, and the rest of the defense were also great.

twins didn't have to carry the team at all, and they didn't get huge minutes either which is good,
as the team played great, and they won't become fatigued with about 17 or so minutes in a game.
They will have their moments, they have lots more games to play before this is over.

Kesler was his usual standout, and all the forwards, (including lapierre) played well.

I thought hodgson played fine, he can stay, thats for sure.

Wow, I sure didn't think the Canucks had that much toughness in them, they had more big hits tonight than the whole regular season. It was a really good game, a bit of a let down in the second but picked it up enough in the third to keep the Hawks at bay for most of it. Lou played amazing and Edler was huge. You could sure see the mismatch in the second half of the game as Quinville was down to playing about 12 guys and the Canucks just kept rolling the top 3 lines with a few 4th line shifts tossed in. This will really start to make a difference come game 3 or 4.

As for the other series...
Detroit looked really good after the 10 min mark of the 1st, might have to watch out for them.
Nashville made the Ducks look silly
Washington played shi*ty but managed to win
Tampa played a good game but could't catch a break, this one is going to be a good series.

Can't wait for the Habs/Bruins game tomorrow, I think this may be the best series of round 1, lots of animosity before it even starts and 2 of the top 3 goalies this year. I'm not rooting for anything in this one but 7 games.

Both teams played well. Chicago owned the second and part of the third. Luongo made a huge difference.
