Some slight corrections....

Stalin is a little further down the list. The Christian Church is the worst follwed by Islam and then a few meglomaniacla leaders come in.

Until Harpo wins 100% of the vote only some have accepted his actions. In the last election over 60% did not accept them.

EXCUSE ME???!!!!

FIRST, if you want to include philosophies, would be the secular humanist religion known as Marxism, which is responsible for 100 million deaths in the twentieth century. We would include in that total Stalin (number two) with 20 million dead at least, and Mao, at number one, with between 50 and seventy million deaths.

SECOND would be the European fascists, including the Nazis (a pagan religion)...........numbers here are hard to assign....do you include the Japanese fascists (more pagans) that murdered hundreds upon hundreds of thousands in China? Or just the Nazis? Or do you include all the 50 million dead of World War Two?? Anyway, it includes Adolph Hitler at number three personally, with at least 10 million civilians dead in exterminations all over Europe.

As a religion, Islam is guilty of the murder of many many people in their conquests..............as is the Catholic Church...........the difference is that the Christians stopped a long, long time ago....Islam is accelerating the killing.

You REALLY need to have some idea of what you are talking about before you open your mouth.

I brought up the concept of religion being the greatest cause of wars and deaths not philosophies. If you want to go there then it would be imperialistic capitalism as the greatest killer in history as many conquests throughout history have been the result of this idea.

Naziism is a political idea not a religious one evidenced by the suport of the catholic doctrine within the 3rd reich and the current neo-nazi movement. It may very well seem like a religion to some people but like marxism it is political.

Christianity, if you do your reasearch, is also a pagan religion. It draws many parralells to and many stories from many prior relegious beliefs now classified as pagan.

It was not Harper that passed the laws that were so objectionable at the G20.

Harper was not the man responsible for justice in Ontario nor Toronto.....that was a provincial problem, provincial laws, provincial enactment of scary rules.....by the Liberal government of Dalton McGuinty.

I agree the entire situation was mishandled.

But it was hardly the Gulag.

I suggest your friends seek psychiatric help. Seriously.

And I think everyone should be armed to the teeth.
McGuinty has the power to order police from all over the country to show up in Toronto because Harper decided to hold a contentious meeting in an over populated venue? I would think that security at an international event such as that would be in the hands of the feds. Was BC in charge of security at the Winter Olympics? I don't think so.

History has a purpose, a good purpose if we would actully learn from historical mistakes. Unfortunately, as they say, history repeats itself.

We don't know if the election call was a mistake. I think the Tories would be a long way
ahead if that were true. At present the early indication is the Conservatives are at 41%
that must be little comfort as election campaigns tighten up in the last ten days. If there
is a shift earlier to that time period we could end up with a Liberal Minority. We are
looking at a very strange election with a fluid voter mentality, 18% undecided and no one
wanting to give anyone a majority even though they want a majority of some kind.
Harper made two mistakes in the past week. One to not debate Iggy and the second that
will come to the fore soon, he wants a free trade deal with India and that will not sit well
with farmers a huge support network for Conservatives. This thing is a long way from
over.

Also, let's not confuse other systems of government with the dictatorship itself. If you want to blame communism or marxism or fascism whatever, you should first realize that the defining criteria for oppression in any of those movements is that there existed a dictator bringing people to their knees. Dictators appear to exist even today in our own parliamentary democracy - but instead of controlling rations, it has evolved into controlling information.

Let's not support an info-dictator. Pleeeease don't make that mistake.

The G20 security was authorized and controlled through the Department of Public Works and Government Services Act which is a federal statute. To me that would make it federal juisdiction.

Hmmmmm.... well..... I would say that the problem is with crap attitudes like the following concerning the importance of History.

At which you flunk. Do yourself a favour..........don't try and pass off this crap on a man that has had a life-long passion for history, and actually bothered to get a degree in same.........and doesn't get his facts from whackedidiots.com.

Did you at any time consider a degree in a useful field like economics or science?

I have to admit you have a valid point there.

I did not intend to downplay the utility of history as much as to antagonize Colpy for being arrogant about holding a degree in it.

History is written by the victor. It is always slanted in favour of the agenda of the victor. Rarely is it an accurate picture of what really happened.
