As with all other things there are two views and standards to this story. First we are not going
to leave Canadians stranded in a foreign country in a state of revolution and civil war. That is
not acceptable period. Figure out who owes what later just get them out.
On the other hand while we demand we get these people out, people who are working in the
oil industry that supports a tyrant, well that's OK but don't be singing songs for them for a million
bucks that is not acceptable. What the hell are we thinking? We should not be there propping
up a regime that is blood thirsty and corrupt. But having said that we still need to get our people
out of the troubled area and we are failing to do that even when some of the countries that usually
screw things up.

I suppose if I could afford to pay 185 G's in taxes every year I wouldn't be all that worried about it either.

Ontario thinks it was the only one that got the shaft from the Chretien Government, but every Province (perhaps except Alberta) bore the brunt of downloading. Selective memory blames the Tories, but that is exactly what it was. Selective memory. Martin was brilliant at saving money, especially the way he re-flagged Canada Steamship so he could avoid all the Canadian Taxes. Poor him.

How do you think Mulroney's dreaded GST figured into those surpluses?

Selective memory.

Even if you did pay that much in taxes, you'd still be the only one of the two of you that did.

And what gives with the other place, it's all wierded out.

That's what I figured too;-)
I figured as much, but you know that lil guy sitting on your shoulder that convinced to not say anything...mine died.

But I've watched him escalate his worth in a short period of time, during an economic down turn. Considering he owns a cleaning business, which has been historically one of the first things most companies curtail when push comes to shove.
