For all his homosexual pals.

Obviously you don't talk to many woman. Most woman I know find him to be very attractive. I assume you don't find a woman unattractive, simply because she's a lesbian? That would be pretty strange.

Northern Ontario,
I am absolutely stunned that anybody would ask me to prove that statement. It is like I said the sky is blue and you asked me to prove it. Usually I don't bother to do lazy people's research for them but you are relatively new here so I'll make the odd exception. It took all of 20 seconds to find this. I assume I could find mountains of "proof" were I so inclined to spoon feed you.

Cable TV: Audience

As you can see by the graph, 2004 cable news viewership spiked to a whopping 7 million viewers. Now, before you ask, I'm not interested in "proving" that 7 million Americans isn't a majority. You'll have to do your own research on that one.
And broadcast audiences went down while cable went up............

I love to be spoon fed. I also like to ask questions that are more complicated than they seem. You have produced evidence which meets your burden of going forward but which does not carry your burden of proof.

How so? You have given us cable ratings. You haven't factored in the fact that Fox News has independent affiliates throughout America which hugely boost the audience viewing its new stories. You also haven't factored in that MSNBC is a subsidiary of NBC which also owns CNBC. They share news stories and personnel.

In other words, Fox News and (MS)NBC are seen by far greater numbers than only those which watch the cable giants Fox New Channel and MSNBC.

Very nice lateral movement, but he has met his burden. His statement was:
Most Americans don't watch these channels and most are middle of the road.

Channels. You can't count independent affiliates in the column for Fox News, or MSNBC. Those are different channels.

Don't flatter yourself. Your questions aren't nearly as complicated as you seem to think. As I said, I'm not interested in spoon feeding you. If you bothered to look you would see that less than half the population in the states even watches regular nightly TV news including all stations and local news is down to 65%. Faux devotees can't seriously believe that two thirds of local news is watched on Faux affiliates.

Anyway you wish to look at it, TV news is not the source of information for most Americans and that is why it has had to take on the "info-tainment" schtick in order to appeal to viewers. Faux and MSNBC are on the fringes of a shrinking demographic. Listening to Faux watchers talk about their market share reminds me of newspaper people arguing about circulation numbers 20 years ago. They can't seem to grasp the irrelevancies of their arguments.

In other words, Fox News and (MS)NBC are seen by far greater numbers than only those which watch the cable giants Fox New Channel and MSNBC.

Far greater? Not likely. My statement still stands. Faux and MSNBC watchers are fringe dwellers and they simply do not appeal to the majority of Americans.

Oh how tricky. I will concede that he has met his burden. See you later.:)

Obviously.

I don't flatter myself. Ego is an encumbrance that hinders adroit debate.

Are Canadian leftists frustrated by what is happening in America? Things aren't going well for American leftists.:(

Things aren't going well for Americans...left, right, middle, up, down....maybe if it was possible to stop thinking of your country in such fractured frames of reference, you might address some of the real problems.

The Sun is owned by Rupert MERDEdoch and that rag is about as right wing as you can get. There isn't a smuttier paper anywhere.

I'm not sure. I personally don't know any "leftists"

I do know that I am frustrated at what is happening in the US. Things aren't going well for Americans period....a trillion dollar debt and real problems aren't being dealt with because the nutters on both fringes are dominating the debate. Sensible centrists are tuning out because they are tired of the nonsense. The problem (as a Canadian) is that this attitude is spreading to Canada where the Ezra Levants and the Hedy Frys seem to get more attention than they deserve.Meanwhile, the fringe dwellers like you, Dasleeper or (on the left) Gopher feel that those that don't agree with them are Nazis...leftards...or other such silly labels and discussions invariably deteriorate until somebody is asked to prove something as obvious as how few people watch Faux news....as if it is important.

I know this may be difficult for you to accept but America is not made up of two camps. Things aren't right and left, black and white, Faux and MSNBC.

Fox News and MSNBC represents parallel universes roughly replicating the parallel universes into which America has been divided. Whether it is good or bad no longer matters. It is.
Twiddle You poor poor person thinking we have become a divided nation. If you really believe that then you are not a American and have been pulling everyones leg all this time. There has never been a time when all 330 million of us have agreed, look at Canada 33 million and no two agree were no different.

...Meanwhile, the fringe dwellers like you,...

Tell me how insulting me by calling me a fringe dweller has advanced our debate? Why did you feel compelled to insult me? You have no idea of all of my views across the spectrum of issues.

There are 308 million Americans, not 330 million. There are at least 35 million Canadians, not 33 million.
