Not true. My paternal ancestors came to America as a direct result of the Franco-Prussian War. They were a conquered people. They came to the US to escape German power.

Canada is a creature of the British Empire, which swept the country clear of its First Peoples and then invited in European settlers. The American Govt. did not have the power of the British Empire. The First Peoples of America were mostly swept aside by American and European settlers themselves.

American character would be human character. Human character is to a large extent determined by environment. Do you seriously think that the American frontier experience was vastly different from frontiers all over the world? The American frontier experience was written in extreme violence and genocide. The gun and ruthlessness made it all possible. That makes the Canadian and American experiences very different. Those experiences shaped the national character. The American experience is closer to the Afrikaaner experience than the Canadian experience.

Both left and right in America have become politically nihilistic. Defeat of the other side takes priority over the success of one's own side. That is something new. There's no way to predict how this will turn out, except to observe that America has entered unknown territory.

London, Feb 20(ANI): Double murder-accused US official Raymond Davis has been found in possession of top-secret CIA documents, which point to him or the feared American Task Force 373 (TF373) operating in the region, providing Al-Qaeda terrorists with "nuclear fissile material" and "biological agents," according to a report.
Russia's Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) is warning that the situation on the sub-continent has turned "grave" as it appears that open warfare is about to break out between Pakistan and the United States, The European Union Times reports.
The SVR warned in its report that the apprehension of 36-year-old Davis, who shot dead two Pakistani men in Lahore last month, had fuelled this crisis.
According to the report, the combat skills exhibited by Davis, along with documentation taken from him after his arrest, prove that he is a member of US' TF373 black operations unit currently operating in the Afghan War Theatre and Pakistan's tribal areas, the paper said.
While the US insists that Davis is one of their diplomats, and the two men he killed were robbers, Pakistan says that the duo were ISI agents sent to follow him after it was discovered that he had been making contact with al Qaeda, after his cell phone was tracked to the Waziristan tribal area bordering Afghanistan, the paper said.

If this turns out to be true, then my guess is he's screwed..... and US global opinion will deminish even further..... if that's even possible.

The US once again starting conflicts and keeping those conflicts going, while still trying to look like they're trying to stop those conflicts..... and funding dictators and terrorists organizations, whom then turn into their enemies for whatever reason, whom then they fight and kill, but also end up helping and funding, to keep it all going.

They helped and funded Afghanistan and the Taliban, then they became their enemies and they went out to kill them..... now they were funding and helping Pakistan and now it looks like they're about to do the same thing.
