Does an Election Loom?

Today, the Honourable the Senate of Canada sat until past 8:30 PM -- this is highly unusual, and there was a flurry of bills bouncing back and forth between the Senate and the House of Commons. I wonder, then, if the Government is trying to tie up loose ends before it calls an election in the spring, perhaps?

Well things are sure pointing in that direction. In fact today seen a small bus for the liberal candidate feuling up, seems that they are starting to ramp up to it. Unfortunately they are not in office here and Mr Micheal Ignatiff, is reason for me seeking a forum to make a statement. He has now a few times hinted that in Canada we only have two real choices liberal or conservitive. And that people should vote liberal to get Steven harper out of office. If that is the case why do the Block NDP and Green party hold seats in the house??

Ignatieff is not stupid. he's well aware of the simple minded strategic voters who'd be more than willing to vote in an idiot to keep a worse idiot out, and he's exploiting this with his us or them rhetoric. As per usual, if there is another election, I'll vote for the best candidate I think deserves my vote even if he has not a chance in hell of winning. The reaon for this is that if enough people thought that way, then maybe we finally would start getting ome good candidates into power once the second-worst candidate realises that fearmongering and getting people to vote negatively (i.e. to keep another out) just doesn't work anymore.

Ignoreparty affiliations and vote in the best candidate. And if he's an independent candidate with good ideas, even better. We absolutely need more independent candidates in that House.

I think we should have a referendum on the next ballot to whether or not to do away with the party system and have only independent candidates.

Cliffy totaly agree with your points!! lets hope that Iggy's redorick does not blindside the general opinion. We need a responsible government that acts on behalf of voters not the corporate sponsers. Lets rally for a fair and infomative campain! Out with the finger pointing in with a real forum and politicians that actually address the real issues Canadians face and resolutions for the the issues facing many!

"Does an Election Loom?"

Would this even be a question if we had elections in regularly set intervals, as logic and common sense dictates?

I think scheduled elections is a poor idea. I prefer the idea that, in a minority situation, the government can fall if they get out of whack.

Elections are set to be every 4 yrs! But if minority government steps out of line they should be ousted, need to find a better way to bring forth elections! As the minority goverment calling for election, well look they bring something in that people want then call election saying look what we did for you hide the dirt that caused an uproar. They sugar coat the good and ditch the bad, tell me where are all the upset people that felt douped by the prorogation of parliment last year this time??? Since Harper is creating a fasade of a growing ecomomy from recession times! my hero for saving us, forget the prorougation, so he could go be at the olympics in the best seats paid for by johny q public that were loosing thier jobs! Ah but life is grand get to be the entertainment for his party's christmas party. For 300 gs a year plus all benifits nice fat pension sure he as many other PMs will get a job offer for big $$ when he leaves office only to be a statice symbol for where ever he goes. nice rosey future for him so does he care , highly doubt it !! No accountability no worries.

Quite frankly, if the Opposition didn't like what was happening, they'd force an election. They haven't. Therefore, the Opposition must not be upset at how Harper is running things.

Any Canadian looking for change via a federal election (with the system locked down as it is by the usual interest gathering mob) must be by definition stupid. Making the same mistakes over and over again and expecting different results is what insane means. Compare the offered politicians and you'll see only a seamless wall of the same psychopathic individuals completely glued to the way things are and not interested in change that would remove them to prisons. Do not let them kiss your baby, I know where their lips love to be. Policy difference, there isn't any. Nothing but the wallpaper will change in this country until we control our own banking institutions with an iron rod. The best scenario for the near future is to leave Mr Harper where he is to further incriminate himself and his loathsome party of filthy rotten globalist. We will be saving money and the regularly schedualed programming of dancing with meat puppets will not be interrupted.

Oh please ten penny!! the opposition cannot force an election with hopes to bring change!! For last threat to defeat present government brought in Harpers mud slinging guns enstilling fear to the masses that a coalition govenrment would let seperatists tear apart this whole nation only to "steal alberta's oil" use funds to seperate Quebec and destroy the nation! The liberals have no real platform to present to the people the other parties are too weak to do anything but destroy as they have no experiance how to run this country. Not one party has a fool proof way to deal with the issues. And what is this Alberta's oil thing anyway?? We are a nation not a union! This is Canada a nation is it not?? Canadian funds went into James Bay hydro project, yet east coast now develop another project and run lines in St Laurent to east for supply?? Return our resorces to federal to benifit all Canadians! When Alberta was a farming community before oil and had problems the industrial areas of ontario and quebec assisted them !! Now fallen industrial struggling and oil rich Alberta flips the bird?? Guess potash rich prarries will do same to Canada when devastated prarries recieved assistance through their difficult times?? And any and all resorces this nation finds/develops/has becomes a jursisdictional issue?? We are a nation that did care for its people united and now in this self centerd world its mine mine mine that will destroy us!
Yup lets call an election to be entrtained by a mud slinging contest!
Screw the issues I just want entertainment, hey perhaps our performing PM will give us a concert to boot!
a mud slinging concert oh what fun it is to be daft!
