I have a Christmas tune addiction. I could listen to that stuff all day in December.
I like Christmas music, but I guess dance beat/autotune applied to religious Christmas songs? = tacky, to me. I know the Faber guys are religious so they probably didn't mean it disrespectfully. Not that it's sacreligeous, just kind of ruins the
music. But, anyway, I also like a lot of Christmas songs. (Not country Christmas, though - usually.)
As to how he's on the countdown.. People voted for him and VH1 let them. Simple as that.
I guess I meant: How do these things
originally get on the countdown? Do you need to hae a radio hit, first?
Anyhow, he's doing it in the correct way - he had a hit, then his record company got out another single and a video in a timely manner. It doesn't seem that difficult. My point (which I admit got lost, in my last post) was that if his record label can push this guy, successfully, just by following a few simple rules of thumb, what is Jive's problem if they can't push a much better guy as successfully as this nonentity has been pushed?
Seems to me it was really bad planning.
Lol. Or maybe being over-cautious, or over-thinking it all (like the Pat Monahan addition). If they had just planned to put AWM out there for adds, when LLWD was peaking, I think we can safely say it would have been a respectable hit. Maybe not massive, but who knows? Or Can't Stay Away, or Written All Over My Face. I think they were greedy and looking for another massive hit. They over-thought it, in my opinion. The inclusion of Pat and the whole video fiasco kind of proves that, in my mind. And the fact that they didn't want to let The Truth go, and quickly release something else.
I just don't want the label to think LLWD was the result of Kris's fleeting Idol fame, like some coronation song. But I'm wondering if that's what they do think. To me, Kris was probably the least likely Idol to ride Idol fame to a hit song. I always felt LLWD was just a popular song, and that's why I think it wasn't a fluke and he can do it again if they back him. But what they think is a mystery.
