This is going to be an interesting game, tallola. I don`t know what to expect of either team as they have both been unpredictable. We may have more wins on the board then the Lions but some were by the skin of our teeth. The Lions are really against a wall and truly need this game so they are going to be tough. Jarius has the ability to take off and run like our Darian so he won`t be as easy to get to as Lulay proved to be in his last game. Your defense can be really tough when they are executing the correct plays and I expect they will be a constant threat. Our offense is pretty darn good if I do say so. We have outstanding receivers in Fantuz, Bagg, Dressler, Rodriquez, Clermont, and Getzlaf and Wes Cates has proven to be a pretty dandy receiver too.
I read that the Lions have cut Derik Armstrong in favor of Darius Passmore – maybe they are hoping the name will bring them luck. Just kidding. J It makes me wonder what is going to happen to Geroy and Paris – my two favorite Lion receivers. I can`t understand why both Printers and Lulay barely went to these guys – both have outstanding stats – so why leave them out of so many plays. I hope to see more of both in this game.
I really liked the way Haufnagel mixed up the Stamps defense in their game against BC. They took a page of the Rider’s defensive play-book and I am hoping that our guys watched the tape of that game and maybe got a few new ideas of their own. I really like that type of defense as it makes it hard for the opposing team to read exactly who is coming at them and from what angle. Hope to see more of that this afternoon.
The biggest factor in many games this season has been the needless penalties taken by a team. Yards lost to stupid errors can cost teams downs and in the end, TDs. In addition, it is demoralizing to the team. Time and again we have seen a receiver make a brilliant catch followed by a huge gain only to have the play nullified by one of his teammates being too eager or simply stupid. Both teams are guilty of taking too many and I really hope that the coaches have managed to convey to their guys how damaging penalties can be. Besides, a clean well-played game is a treat in itself.
One thing is absolutely certain; this is going to be an exciting game. It is also the Hall of Fame game and Sask’s own Don Narcisse is an inductee. The CFL website had these impressive stats on Don.
“Narcisse’s numbers suggest he was very good during his Roughriders career which ran from 1987 through 1999.
Ranks first in team history in career receptions (919, fifth best in CFL history), catches in a single season (123, third on the CFL list) and single-game receptions (15, tied for fourth on the CFL list), and is second in team history for career receiving yards (12, 366) and TDs (75).
Narcisse also owns league records for most consecutive seasons with a reception in every game (11) and most consecutive games with a catch (216). He had eight career 1,000 yard seasons, tying him for sixth in CFL history.”
Bon chance, tallola
