I'm not surprised. Gordo gutted the forestry ministry (and just about every other ministry) so lack of oversight is probably an understatement.

I'm not sure Gordo is totally to blame for this. Markets went soft and a lot of the coastal mills were antiquated and there were probably too many of them for what was needed to supply the demand.

No doubt that what you say is true but Gordo gutted the ministry and put the fox in charge of the hen house long before the industry self destructed.

People who've planted before know what to watch for when applying for jobs-that's why this company went for those immigrants-sad.

That's OK, they just sh*t their own nest- maybe now they'll go back to India or where ever they are from......................:lol::lol::lol:

According to the B.C. Federation of Labour, whose staff and president have spoken to about a dozen workers in recent days, most members of the group were landed immigrants from Burundi and the Republic of Congo. President Jim Sinclair said they travelled from Winnipeg, Ottawa and Montreal to earn money to pay rent and go back to school.
They further complained they were subject to racism and death threats and were refused adequate medical treatment when someone was hurt, he said.
Probably working for whitie.

They were relying on the sheer size of the wilderness they work in to hide their misdeeds I assume. Thank god this was found out.

KM Bajwa according to the article, is the company owner. Doesn't sound too white, but, in this day and age he could be, who knows.

East Indians have been in Canada for 160 years. It's bull**** to say it was foreigners and they should "go back". Go where? Move closer to downtown Vancouver?

Slept in "containers" on "foam mattresses"

Holy crap!

Where was that when I did replanting all those years ago?

Leaky canvas tents, hard ground, sleeping bag, actually Army surplus C rats, boiled river water and all the berries you could pick and eat. Paid penny's per tree.

Man times have changed.

Take that up with whoever said it. it still doesn't make the guy 'whitie'.

I know plenty of people who've done some pretty hard turns with planting camps. I don't know any who weren't fully aware that they could hike out and call home whenever they wanted. Therein lies the HUGE difference to me Bear.

Sorta my point, and ya, I agree.

Unless it was a fly in.

Nope. I also had no expectations of staying in one when I applied either.

These guys could probably have hiked out and called home (albeit they'd probably have to hustle to be back for work in the morning):lol::lol:
