I have seen it. I like that one too but just not enough to make time for it for some reason.

I don't seem to have that problem with satellite TV (BellXpressvu). And I am not a big fan of Bell - I really hate all of those packages that force you to buy channels you don't want along with those that you do.
It is a real pain to have to buy a whole package just to get the single channel you want. They all do it. They know lots of people like the History channel. It's always inserted with a bunch of channels we would never watch but - my husband likes the history channel so, we pay for it. We have Shaw simply because it's the one that works where we live. I like Bell the best. I don't like their billing practices and talking to them on the phone (like most companies now) means dealing with some of the most obnoxious people in the world. We might have been able to have Bell here but we stayed away from them just because of their "not so user friendly" staff. If we had not purchased 2 PVR's from Shaw I would dump them in a heart beat because their office is right here in town and they are the most rude people you can deal with on the phone and face to face in the office. I've dumped them for my phone and internet. They got our bill wrong. I went in and discussed it. I got two more bills that were right and the next one was way off the wall. I'm going back to telus but I'm not under contract so if they start to mess with me - I'll move on again.

Not all thankfully. On Sasktel you can buy packages or just a single specialty channel. It cost about 50 cents more than when packaged.

That reminds me. I need to add TSN for the girls for football season.

I hate the substitution thingy. It makes sense for the adverts I guess but I just try to PVR stuff on the west coast US channels in hopes it doesn't get subbed. The American channels tend to have the flash ahead promos for the next episode but they cut them on Canadian stations.

I wish. lol
Except for the PPV channels, we watch about 6 or 7 channels. I'd pay $8 a month for each and still it'd be cheaper than the packages to get those 6 or 7 channels.

I find that CTV is bad for forgetting to switch over to the proper show. I have missed the first minute or two of a show because of this, and it ticks me off! I find that A-Channel is quilty of doing this as well.

It's reasons like this way too many commercials that have made me stick with watching my favourite shows on DVD. When I taped the series finale of Lost, it felt like I was fast forwarding through commercials every three minutes! Highly annoying and made it so I wasn't "into" it as much as I may have been otherwise. I will watch it again when the Season 6 DVD comes out.

I also think the ever-increasing amounts of "reality tv" shows is going to be the death-knell of many quality shows on Network TV. How many scripted shows were cancelled due to it being cheaper to air reality crap? It doesn't seem to be getting any better, either!

Thats not the networks, its your cable company.

I feel your pain. I HATE the amount of commercials on TV. I realize its the primary revenue stream for them but it does disrupt the enjoyment of a show when you have a commercial (seemingly) every 4-5 minutes...

This all depends on how one defines "quality shows". Its all about ratings: if people watch "reality TV" then it will stay on. If people don't watch the shows, they'll get canned. Personally, the only thing close to "reality TV" that I watch are on Food or HGTV... I can't stand the Survivor/Big Brother crap and I'm not a fan of "talent" searches either.

With the fee for carriage the cable companies and broadcasters are fighting this might change where the cable companies will drop Canadian networks and keep the US ones.

Canada had their chance to improve their programming but they failed so people will hardly notice the lack of Canadian TV and the cable companies can do the local news.
