A Republican stealing speeches from Obama? What is this world coming to.

for a while, Sarah Palin was exhorting her supporters that the 'Drill Baby Drill!'approach towards deep sea oil drilling was the way to go. I'm saddened to not hear the dulcet tones of Sarah on this topic lately ....

We had a thread about it a while ago. 'Drill baby, drill!" was the Republican slogan in the 2008 elections. It is rarely heard these days.

http://forums.canadiancontent.net/us-american-politics/92100-drill-baby-drill.html

It was the same with Social Security. When Republicans controlled the Congress and Bush was the president, they tried to privatize Social Security, claiming that people could earn much more by investing their money in the stock market than by contributing it to a government run program.

Then we had the Bush meltdown, DOW plunged to half its value, and all the talk of privatizing Social Security all of a sudden disappeared.

In truth, nothing in her recent speeches have offered anything constructive in order to solve any of the problems we see today. As is usual with Republicans it's all a matter of "vote for me" and attacking Democrats in their speeches.

Republicans have not put forth any solution; they want people to vote for them simply because they are not Democrats. And it may work in 2010.

The big problem could come in 2012, when they have to articulate a vision for the party and for the country, put forth concrete proposals, what they will do about the deficit, about taxes etc.

That is when there may be a holy row in the Republican Party; all the differences that are now submerged in their hatred of Obama will come to surface. Do they cut taxes and skyrocket the deficit even further? Do they privatize Social Security (I assume that is what Tea Party wants); do they relax the regulations passed by Democrats (on the financial sector)? Do they amend the Civil rights act to permit separate lunch counters, white only business (that is what Rand Paul and his Tea Party supporters want)? Different factions will fight over what should be the vision for the Republican Party, and it won’t be pretty.

Unless economy is really in the tank, my opinion is that Obama is in a good position to win in 2012.

It's to soon for Palin to be considered for 2012.

Hardly too soon, Johnny. The battle for Republican nomination will begin as soon as the November elections are done, in a few months' time.

I assume candidates are raising money, building networks etc. at present, and many of them will announce in November.

But it looks difficult for Republicans in 2012, as of now (unless we have a double dip recession and economy is in the tank by 2012, which is highly unlikely, according to most economists).

The following are NOT my words, but clearly reflect my views:

"Liberals are afraid of Sarah Palin because she doesn't have experience as a 'Community Organizer' like Marxist Obama has, she wasn't even taught by Communist Saul Alinsky.

Liberals are afraid of Sarah Palin because she has more executive experience than Barack Obama.

Liberals are afraid of Sarah Palin because she never left her babies to die in a 'Dirty Linen' closet like Obama has fought so hard for - how can she understand the 'Obama Hope'?

Liberals are afraid of Sarah Palin because she was never 'Mentored' by 'God Damn America' black racist Jeremiah Wright - how can she understand the plight of Liberal Racists?

Liberals are afraid of Sarah Palin because she never voted present 129 times like Barack Obama and doesn't know how to dodge tough issues and blame others.

Liberals are afraid of Sarah Palin because she isn't the 'Messiah' like Barack Obama, how could she heal the World and stop the Oceans from rising?

Sarah Palin doesn't even know how to 'Bow and Grin' at those who want to destroy America!"

Palin is as dumb as a clear cut let alone a stump and is nothing to fear at all.

By the way Obama's handler is Brzezinski just as he was for Bush and just like for Clinton.

There are no parties just a so far benevolent fascist dictaorship that gives an illusion of choice.

To keep you confused about there really being a choice when it's just two sides of the same coin.
Ah Yes! The illusion of democracy keeps the masses placated while the controlling elite go about their business of controlling. Right, left, up ,down: what nonsense. They have done a wonderful job of convincing the slaves they are free.

"To keep you confused about there really being a choice when it's just two sides of the same coin."

So, then what you are saying is that Obama is just as Dumb as Sarah Palin? Or that Sarah Palin is just as brilliant as The Saviour of the world?

Also, remember, that every Democratic candidate in the primaries who was endorsed by Obama lost, while all Republican candidates, endorsed by Palin, WON.

Maybe that is the reason that all the Left has is personal insults, like the most intelligent post from you, #872.

I think Blanche Lincoln of Arkansas was endorsed by Obama. She pulled a huge upset and won the primary. Also, the Democratic candidate for John Murtha's seat was endorsed by Obama, he won the election to Murtha's seat. That seat is a socially conservative seat, Republicans were very confident of winning it, they had practically planned a celebration party.

Indeed, that election indicates that if Republicans are expecting to sweep to power in November, getting majorities in the Senate and the House (perhaps even filibuster proof majoirty in the Senate), they may be in for a very rude shock. Murtha's seat is the very kind of seat Republicans must win, and they lost there (I am sure Obama's endorsement helped the Democratic candidate).

If liberals are not afraid of Sarah Palin, why their constant, non-ceasing and paranoid preoccupation with her?

Palin is a good object for ridicule, she is very susceptible to humour, same as Bush was. There is nothing wrong with making fun of her. As to her getting elected, I wish Republicans nominate her. I wish teabaggers all the success in that endeavour.

If she is the Republican nominee, very likely we are looking at landslide Obama victory. She is unpopular even among the Republicans, she has very high negatives among the general population (though she is wildly popular with the Tea Party). I have already showed you the polls to that effect.

SirJosephPorter, Blanche Lincoln was endorsed by Bill Clinton, not Obama. You must confuse turn-coat Arlen (Benedict) Specter with Lincoln.

John Murtha's seat 'socially conservative'? Is that the reason the flaming anti-American liberal Murtha was elected and re-elected time and time again?

Ridicule?

How about Joe Biden? He is the insurance policy for Obama against assassination. Even the most rabid would-be assassin would not want this foot-in-the-mouth loser for President.

Or how about the second in line for Obama's throne, Nancy Pelosi?

My guess right now would be that Piyush "Bobby" Jindal will get the Republican nod to run for President. Sarah Palin will do just what she is doing now, scaring the liberals.

She was endorsed by Clinton as well as Obama.

Indeed socially conservative. Read about it on internet. Murtha kept getting elected again and again because he was personally popular. However, Republicans were so confident of winning the seat that Republican Party they had prepared only the victory release (normally a party and a candidate prepare two releases, one in the case of victory, one in the case of defeat).

Republican Party had to prepare a press release in a hurry, after their candidate lost. But CNN managed to get hold of the victory release and made it public. Not surprisingly, it was totally different from the one they actually put out. The victory release claimed that the result was of national significance, that the result showed that victory in November was practically a done deal.

The actually release they put out claimed that the election was influenced by local issues and had no national significance, that Republican victory in November is practically a done deal anyway.

Ridicule?

That indeed is the problem with Republicans. They hate Obama with a visceral passion. Unfortunately for Republicans, they must wish Obama a long life, must pray to theri God that nothing happens to Obama. The reason is that they hate Biden and Pelosi much more than they hate Obama (if such a thing is possible).

My guess right now would be that Piyush "Bobby" Jindal will get the Republican nod to run for President. Sarah Palin will do just what she is doing now, scaring the liberals.

You mean amusing the liberals, giving them constant fodder for jokes and ridicule.
