There must be hundreds of recipes calling for ground round, or even ordinary hamburger. From ordinary hamburgers to pasta sauce to chilli. Does anyone have a favourite or two they would share with us?

A nice mix for hamburger recipes is ground beef/ground veal/
and a 'little' ground pork mixed together.
Makes good meat loaf, or hamburgers, or meat balls.

add some fine breadcrumbs
beaten egg
seasonings to taste
a little barbecue sauce if desired
chopped onion
add a little spaghetti sauce if desired
some parmesan cheese if desired
olive or grapeseed oil

Shepherd's Pie is easy, cheap and nutritious, just ground beef, spuds and anything else you care to add.

burritos
meat
pack of onion soup dry
1 tablespoon chili powder
1 garlic
refried or brown beans
tortillas

But toss the dry Onion Soup! That stuff has to be 50% salt!

We love burritos! We just make very thick chili. Roll them up and lay in a baking pan. Top with Salsa and Jack chesse. Bake for 15 minutes at 400 degrees.

Hamburger Soup

We clean out the fridge the day before shopping-use up the last of the celery and the few carrots and that half an onion from 3 days ago.

Ground beef and pork can be used to make this dish named manty. It takes time, but it's worth it.

3/4 parts mix of ground beef and ground pork (equal proportions) + 1/4 part of finely minced onion. Add a little bit of water (depending on the volume of the ground mix), black ground pepper (I use quite a bit) and some salt.

Dough: 3-4 raw eggs, 1 glass of water and 1/2 glass of milk, add some salt and 2-3 full table spoons of any vegetable oil. Mix well and keep adding white wheat until the dough becomes as hard as modeling clay. It should not stick to your hands, but be flexible enough to make the manty.

Form the manty of the size of a palm (or smaller). Cook in a steam bowl or on a steam grate in a regular bowl for 15-20 min.

Enjoy.

The picture above shows how it usually looks in my steam bowl.

Try to keep to the topic

This is a good, filling soup that we used to make at the ski-cabin.

Ingredients

one pound of ground round
half pound of ground pork
3 large potatoes peeled and chopped
two large carrots finely chopped
one medium onion finely chopped
Beef stock or broth
teaspoon dried basil
teaspoon dried oregano
a pinch of red pepper flakes
six to eight cups of good beef stock*
1 cup Tortilini pasta

* If you don't have beef stock use beef boullion out of the can mixed with half a can of water.

With a fork mix beef, pork, oregano, and basil.
In large pot throw in beef stock and everything but the meat.
Bring to a gentle boil. salt and pepper tp taste.
At this point form little pieces of ground meat (Nothing so fine as meatballs...just bits of ground meat that will stay together)throw them into the simmering stock and veggies. Simmer the soup until until the pasta is tender.
At this point you could cool and drain the fat off
Reheat and serve with crusty rolls.

Taco Salad:

Ground beef (lean or extra lean)
1 Pkg. taco seasoning
Cook as per package instructions.

There are two ways of making/eating this. Make a regular tossed salad then add the above mixture and some broken up taco chips and a mix of grated cheddar and mozza cheese plus the most important ingredient - Catalina salad dressing. (something I never touch at any other time) or

Make or purchase taco salad shells then: Put a layer of meat sauce in the bottom of the shell, then a layer of salad with the grated cheeses, a little sliced or diced onion, then a little more meat sauce. Dress it up with a couple of tomato wedges and don't forget the catalina dressing.
Make as many layers as you like. We usually do two of each. Meat, salad, meat, salad.

BBQed burgers:
Ground beef
garlic
Lipton's Onion soup mix
Cajun seasoning
mix ingredients, and then form into patties and BBQ. :)

Salisbury steak:
ground beef
cajun seasoning
garlic
mix and form into patties and brown. remove from pan and add water and onion soup mix and make gravy. Put the patties back into the pan with the grayy. Serve with potatoes and greens.

Burger stew is good, yup. We use a mix of ground moose and pork though.
