Oh, quite so, Socrates. According to this crowd, anybody who criticizes Harper about anything is the Spawn of the Devil (and I am proud to be the Spawn of the devil).

And you are quite right, of course. Many other nations have blasted Harper for his right wing extreme policy. Canada is pretty much isolated in its Fundamentalist Chrisitan, anti-abortion stance.

Yes the guy is making a complete ass of him self on the world stage, and at the same time he is insulting the fibber of Canada that for years has been the desire of many around the globe.

Just imagine how stupid the guy looks championing a get-together in Ontario this summer to help pregnant women and children in Africa, and the bozo doesn’t have the moral fibber in him to include a woman that GOT RAPED and faces condemnation from crap hole dictator as well possible death.

Or a woman who has already given birth seven times in seven years dies in pregnancy or childbirth, leaving those children without a mother to care for them?
I know come election time here in Canada many good understanding Canadians will settle the score.

...and yet, here we are. Canada has Abortions, paid for by the Government,
for Canadians, in Canada. Whacky. I'm not defending Harper, but just pointing
out what Canada has to offer Canadians, in Canada, who contribute to the
Canadian tax base for health care...and still we help other nations with:

Training and support for frontline health workers.
Better nutrition and provision of micronutrients.
Treatment and prevention of diseases such as pneumonia, diarrhea, malaria, and sepsis.
Screening and treatment for sexually transmitted diseases, including HIV/AIDS.
Family planning.
Immunization.
Clean water and sanitation.

I really don't care what some other leaders in the G-7 think. If those groups are so interested in setting up abortion clinic; let 'em!... No one is stopping them just like no one is stopping YOU from funding abortions in which ever nation that you like.

... And protest all you like, the reality in this issue is that Canada's role is NOT to run around imposing it's beliefs/practices in other cultures around the globe.

What you neglect to recognize is that I too am a "citizen" of this world and I have as much right as you to abstain from having my interests, money and resources applied to the whims of every fringe group that hollers about "what ought to be", the inequities of life or someone's perceived entitlements.

No, I don’t neglect to recognize your rights as a citizen of the world. It appears you are neglecting the necessity for human compassion, instead, you are giving me an argument that deals with hypocritical fundamentals that deal with dollars and cents rather then showing human empathy to a very serous problem.

Harper championing the get-together this summer in Ontario to help pregnant women and children in Africa, while excluding a 12 year old who has gotten pregnant and may not survive the birth of a mistaken pregnancy or a forced pregnancy, or a woman who has 5-6 -7 children already she may die giving another birth living the rest orphans. That is hypocritical and makes Canada look like a country of a two face morality.

Sock ... is abortion legal in those countries? Don't give me politispeak or bafflegab. Just do a little research and come up with a learned response for a change.

Northern Ontario,
What I do see (from the link in the OP) is a commitment to:

  • Training and support for frontline health workers.
  • Better nutrition and provision of micronutrients.
  • Treatment and prevention of diseases such as pneumonia, diarrhea, malaria, and sepsis.
  • Screening and treatment for sexually transmitted diseases, including HIV/AIDS.
  • Family planning.
  • Immunization.
  • Clean water and sanitation.
This seems to be more than nothing, without pushing ideologies upon other nations
that may be against their laws, beliefs, religion, customs, etc...

If at a later date, they accept other services that Canada is willing to offer,
then that will be a mutual choice.

And I think all this "fundamentalist" "extreme Christian" rant that is coming out of every second post is overused, off topic, has no argumentative value to this topic and is just one poster's personal rant

Hi Ron, but surly the women and children Harper is looking to help in Africa this summer in Ontario, do not support the Canadian tax base, and yet Harper has a big heart when it comes to being a pretender of compassion. But it seems religiously convenient to not support Abortion for these underdeveloped countries because there is no votes to be had in that region. But in Canada if he was to tell people that abortion is not something I will support, you can be sure he will be send to opposition. Double standard or what?:canada:

Hey look at reality and be sure you are wearing sunglasses when you do, because it may blind you. Abortion legal in Canada is not a Conservative achievement, but rather the Liberals have made it legal. If the Conservatives had their way they would make it illegal, and you can take that to the bank.

Even Harper foreign policies have to respect the laws of those countries to which aid may go. What is so hard to understand about that?

Isn't this a "Canadian" acheivement? It's not like only Liberals or Conservatives or whatever
only have access to this. :canada:

Who gives a damn whether abortion is legal in Canada (with respect to this thread) Canada is NOT the law beyond our shores. It ain't rocket science.

You are missing my point Ron, LW asked me if I know that the reason abortions are funded in Canada is because it is legal, and I responded by saying sure it is legal but who made it legal?, I am informed enough to know it was not the blue strip.:canada:

Why should my tax dollars go to abortions in poorer countries where their hospitals are crude and abortions in those conditions usually endangers the mother's health.

If an abortion is necessary then send those mothers to countries that have state of the art equipment with fully trained doctors that are experienced in ripping babies from the mothers womb piece by piece

Please provide the link where I am alleged to say that? You just made up your own crap. What I said was:

Sock ... is abortion legal in those countries?

Please learn to read ... and quote me verbatim. Otherwise, it's just propaganda - gossip
