:lol:Here in BC we generally use hot lead on Pinnipeds but have to be low key and leave the scene discretely after the deed is done.

I would expect that if you took the trouble to go to Newfoundland, you'd find it. Or even, if you're lazy, the Newfoundland grocery store in downtown Toronto.
I don't believe it's the government's job to ensure everyone has easy access to their favorite snack food, however.
The more things change eh Prax. I distinctly recall having this same debate last year. And the year before that.
Here's a gem from the Ottaw Citizen in 1978 (Jan 25th), where Trudeau supports the seal hunt:

Durka, what would you define as a true identifying characteristic of a Canadian? A crackhead on the corner of Yonge and Church perhaps? I know that image does it for me. And yes the sealing industry is part of our identity no matter what PETA, IFAW and the rest of the special interest groups say.
What don't you people not get aboot seal meat eh???!!!
The stuff is gross!!!
You can cover it in anything and it's still nasty!
There's a reason it never took off as a commodity!!!

Yonge & Church don't intersect, you twit.
No, sealing is not part of our national identity. The average Canadian has no tangible past to sealing nor does anyone particularly care about it outside of NFL, it's a regional identity. I don't 2 give ****s what PETA or any other group thinks on the matter.
I've eaten everything from Moose to maggots.Growing up, I was introduced to a lot of different kinds of food and things to "eat" many things I imagine would gross out the average person.
I'm the same way, I'll eat anything...once....Heck I even had my very first true "Vegan" meal over the weekend with my mother.... half of it wasn't bad, the other half was kinda putrid..... but I tried it. However I did end up farting up a horrible storm (even by my normal standards) and was on the crapper for a while afterwards.... but I tried it.
If anyone ever takes my advice on the net, this is the time to do it. I've had seal. It's nasty, I give you my honest word on it. But if you must, have at her...you can have my share too!!!Kidneys, hearts, livers from all sorts of animals, chocolate covered crickets, sushi when I was around 12.... just about every moving animal in Canada.... if it was once alive or still is, and it's not known to kill people when you eat it, I'll try eating it.... Seal included.
Be my guest. :angry3:And afterall, Les from Survivorman ate a seal eyeball and said it was like ice cream and sucked the goop right out of it on camera... so now I gotta give that a go sometime.
I'd concede if I didn't like haggis...:lol:If the Scots can convince people to eat haggis or the vegans can convince people to eat tofu anything is possible.
Funny, last I checked, I don't live in Newfoundland.... oh wait, I forgot that Quebec, the North & the Maritimes don't really count as a part of Canada, silly me.
All that matters is what happens in precious little Ontario and the Prairies and whatever they all do, is what everybody else accepts.
How embarrassing that I slipped up and thought anybody else in the country ever really mattered.
Oh the horrors. I got something wrong about Toronto. Not very Canadian of me is it? My crackhead comparison still stands though.Yonge & Church don't intersect, you twit.

OK...one person here has eaten Seal Meat & didn't like it.
Has anyone else here actually eaten Seal Meat? I haven't, but I'm curious....what
would it be comparable to in terms of taste? If the argument (or part of it) is to have
the meat available to Canadian's Canada wide, what's it taste like?
For example, when I had (about 20yrs ago) Bottlenose Dolphin steaks, they had
the look and consistency of pork, but you knew that they had come from the ocean
due to the taste and aroma. Not bad...but not something I'd like on a regular basis.
You know, kind'a fishy like a Salmon taste, but looked & chewed like pork.
So, anyway, what does Seal Meat taste like?

Reaallly....not part of our identity huh? The industry is not just in NL. PEI, NB, NS, NWT, NU, YK, QC all have an interest in sealing to varying degrees.
Chicken.

Broiled flipper, brain fritters, and canned like the Newfies do to all game meat. Ruining it of course.Curious... how was it prepared when you tried it?
