I think I'm finally getting the picture- you want two designated places to enjoy your brew and wings while I have none to enjoy my cigarillo.......................... that's democracy and probably in that F'n Charter.
You want me to smoke inside to avoid cigarette smoke. In other words you want to restrict my rights to enjoy a patio in the great out of doors. Thats not going to happen. If you want to smoke, go out to the parking lot. You smokers think the world revolves around you, but I have news for you, it doesn't.

Well, if I was the owner/operator of the truck, you might just see it getting converted back & forth from a work place to the smoking coffee room & the cops could go screw themselves.

I have news for you. No smoking coffee rooms permitted in Ontario... :p

I quit smoking three years ago. If someone a mile ahead of me is smoking with their car window down, I can smell it. Do I have the right to demand he put the cigarette out?

Remember.... There are none so rabid as born-again non-smokers.

The issue of the outdoor patio is one where the current smoking laws tick me off.

A bar or lounge should be allowed to have a smoking patio if it wants to. There will be businesses that don't to accommodate non-smokers. So long as it's an informed adult decision to be around it, I don't think that level of nannying is necessary.

It'sa extremely unlikely that the amount you inhale of his/her smoke will do you any harm. :) I'd say "no".

lol... I can smell it on my hubby if he's done ANYthing that involved heating metal up, even if it was just to take a grinding wheel to a tool for a few seconds. But I don't think I'll make him install welding shop ventilation in the house because of it. Being able to smell something and having it actually be at a level that are harmful to you are two different things.

I remember driving from Comox to Val Cartier in a 68 Valiant, in February, two smokers, windows barely cracked, lived in a small home, and I mean small, 15' by 23'. They smoked rollies everywhere they went. I turned out just fine. Not everyone is you.

Gee, Bear. Thanks for that. I thought I had been cloned several billion times. BTW not everyone is you either.

Too many post to catch up here.
It is sad that they have to make up laws like this to get people to stop smoking and think of thier kids. Common sense and for thought is not inherent to some it seems. What can be called a nanny state and it's laws sometimes just mean we do need it. People it seems are just idiots and should have kids period. Especially with what we know today.

Now on the other hand , it has been known that there's additives to make cigarettes addictive. What is the government doing to control that? If cigarettes were made not to be addictive then quiting wouldn't be a pain would it?
Smoking could held back. Urge can be over come to more appropriat settings.

Wow, talk about not getting it, but proving my point none the less...

I suspect it is you who are too thick to get it. You don't think for me and you have completely missed the point that protecting children from the stupidity of their parents might just be a good idea.

*sigh* it's sure depressing to see old 80's shows/movies (or anything earlier) where you see people sitting in the office, talking with a smoke in their hand.... just seemed like a more relaxed environment

Appearances were deceiving. Many non-smokers refused to associate with their fellow workers if it meant being forced to endure a smoke-filled staff room.

So now I'm to "thick" to get it? By all means asshole, go f!ck yourself. If you did get it, you wouldn't have to resort to insults to make a point.

You don't think for me ..
Hell you don't even think for you and I'm simply to busy to do it for you.

No, actually I didn't. But you did miss the several posts in which I stated just that. But hey, you must feel better, you got to say something...how did Plato put it?

Sorry Bear. Sometimes I lose my temper and respond emotionally rather than logically. I mentioned in my second post to these forums that I don't get into flaming matches and I intend to stick to that.

That's awesome, so in other words, you start one, then run like a girl.

Thanx for pointing that out, now I can place less respect on your posts.

Please, DO NOT bash smoking! Smoking is an act that was not invented by those horrible white folks. Smoking was totally unknown in Europe, and to Europeans until the North American Natives gave tobacco and all its blessings to them. Therefore, smoking MUST BE good!

The Natives of North America must have thought that it was a fair trade for the blankets, which may or may not have been loaded with diseases, otherwise why should they have made the deal?.

Can you explain how we used tobacco?

I know the actual history, I just curious as to how you think it was used, and in what quantities.
