Taliban causing more civilian casualties in Afghanistan: UN

I was surprised to read in the article that the Taliban also has a Code of Conduct to reduce civilian casualties, though it appears though NATO has been quicker in implementing theirs.

I'd be interested in knowing what steps precisely NATO has adopted to achieve these results, what further steps they are planning in this direction, and what other measures could be taken to reduce civilian casualties even further.

Well for starters, banning dumb-bombs would greatly reduce civilian casualties.

And, maybe leaving it for the professionals to handle... ahem!

Yes, I know one trigger-happy military that I shall not mention has a reputation for friendly fire here in Canada and the UK, a reputation built on the death of our soldiers through friendly fire.

Definitely, while I realize we can never guarantee the safety of civilians in war, certainly any morally responsible military force at least makes efforts in that direction through the proper education of their soldiers.

All we can do is try not to hit those you may think are innocent, unless they are carrying a weapon..When town are about to be raided, we spread pamphlets all over the place giving the date and time the operation will start. Anyone left there when it starts is a enemy.

Do the pamphlets advise how to get transportation out of town and where shelter will be provided for those who do leave town? Hey, I think those are called refugees, aren't they. And those shelters they live in are usually located in what we call refugee camps. Are you telling me you're in the business of creating refugees?

Lately they have been given out weeks in advance of a attack. Anybody who wants to can leave unless they stay in order to support the Taliban or the Taliban will not let them go. Go or your on your own. In answer to your final question, if they chose to be refugees, so be it. They will be fed.

You know that driving people from their homes is a crime right, announcing that a carpet bombing is coming is not giving them a choice. If the civilians sent a note telling them where all the weddings will be that would only result in those addresses becoming a target of the appointed day.

Please supply the section of law that applies to that claim.

They either go or face the possibility of having their homes destroyed or worse, it is their choice. War sure is Hell isn't it? Maybe if they stop supporting the Taliban life would be better for them. By the way, driving the enemy from their homes is all a part of war, we don't leave them with a nice comfy place to rest if at all possible..

So if I understand this correctly:

Staying home = supporting the enemy

The people are the enemy.

So, whom are you defending there?

I suppose you're disappointed that we've reduced enemy... oops, sorry, Freudian slip there... civilian casualties.

lmao It is a surprise, especially since the Taliban can't even keep from killing themselves and a lot of their colleagues.

Not defending anyone, hunting terrorists. These people are responsible for supporting Osama, El Qaeda and the Taliban. Never said we were there for reconstruction. When their all beaten, we probably rebuild, and they go back and double poppy production.

So what, they could quadriple it, no one is there to stop them, amount does not matter. No one went there origionally to rebuild schools and their infrasructure. Like this name?

The Almighty Needledick - in Metal Bands ( Metal Underground.com )

Is that your wife/girlfriend/S.O's pet name for ya? I know the last american couple the wife and I had in our bed, that was the wifes nickname for him..... that and limpdick. Seems to be an american affliction.

As for your poppy comments. The Taliban had pretty much wiped out poppy growth when they were in power, it did however, make a huge rebound with the help of the american military.
